Since David Beckham joined the LA Galaxy and stayed in the United States, he is expected to face his role in uplifting the sport soccer in America. But according to Ruud Gullit, former Galaxy coach, Beckham is facing very difficult task or even close to impossible

Gullit explained to Reuters, “David is more than just a football player and I think he does extremely well to give football here a lift.” He further said, “But I doubt if they really want that. I think they are afraid of football because it’s so popular everywhere around the world. I think they will just control it so it doesn’t become more popular than their American sports.”

Coach Gullit reiterated that he is doubtful if they really would like to popularized soccer more than the American football and other sports in America including basketball and baseball.

Gullit was appointed as LA Galaxy head coach and has been the highest profile coach among in the Major League Soccer. But after just a few months, he resigned due to some personal reasons.

He explains that there are many things that differ with the way the rules are doing in America than Europe. He seems to be frustrated with how things are going with the leagues in the United States.

Asked if he is going to coach again, he replied “l think I need some more experience. I have had some bad experiences and you don’t want that any more. You want to build it up slowly, slowly, slowly and not jump in immediately. It’s a question of more time.”
