There is nothing more important for a soccer fan, more than his team’s color and badge and their soccer uniforms. It merely signifies the teams and recognizes them with their badge, colors or uniforms. The team’s badge is found on the chest, which signifies importance, placed close to the heart.

During nineteenth century, when television was still black and white, soccer uniforms had long sleeved shirts, they used knickerbockers to cover their knees, unlike nowadays of shorts they’re using, together with a long sock. The colors of the soccer uniforms play a very important role, if one team played in light uniforms the other team had to play in dark. It can easily tell the viewers which team was which, and the players also able to tell where their team mates were on the field. Soccer uniform is made up of shirts (jerseys), shorts, socks and shoes which are the basic.

The goalkeeper used a slightly different uniform from the rest of the team, the jersey has to be different too for he is the only one using his hands in the game. It is very necessary for the goalkeeper to have a different uniform so that viewers and players can easily recognize which player he is. They also used special gloves to defend the ball. Also the referee and his assistants need different color uniforms to avoid mistaken for any player in the field. All players use protections such as shin pads which can also be included as part of the uniform.

Nowadays, soccer uniforms are made from light synthetic material that doesn’t stick when wet and doesn’t weigh as much as the old uniforms. Unlike before uniforms were made of heavy material, they would stick to the player’s body when wet with sweat and rain.
