Ferguson Has Faith in The Squad

Sir Alex Ferguson is adamant that there is no sense for the loss of Rooney or a deflection of concentration ahead of such a big game like the World Cup. United prefer to have their main man available, but loosing so many key players this season, it is an inconvenience to overcome. Since Rooney is in dispose, you want all your best players available, Ferguson continued. That is not the case for us this season but we have also struggled. We stumbled but with a point ahead in the Premier League, in the quarter-final of the Champions League with an away goal advantage and we have won the League Cup, I am sure the players will not be upset. The players are not worried whether Wayne Rooney is going to cost them.
Ferguson will be using the experience on to his bench via either John O’Shea or Owen Hargreaves, who played against Chelsea in September 2008 after that he went under a major surgery on both knees. A fit Hargreaves would represent a great help for a United side, who, thanks to the failings of Chelsea and Arsenal over the last few weeks, would be contented even with a draw.

Sir Alex Ferguson Manchester United boss believes the memory of losing last year’s Champions League final will be a motivation for his players than winning the trophy in 2008. Ferguson said that United are aiming to become only the seventh team to reach three European Cup finals on the trot. This was achieved by Juventus in the mid-1990s. AC Milan who knocked Ferguson out of the Champions League in the 2005 last-16 and 2007 semi-finals, stand in United’s way with the emotional come back of David Beckham to the club he left for Real Madrid in 2003.
The loss to Barcelona in the 2009 final in Rome is still fresh in Ferguson’s mind and he says that the bitter memories of the loss will act as a motivation for his squad to win this year. The win was great in Moscow but losing in Rome became better for the team, Ferguson said. That you realize what a big occasion is if you are not part of the celebration.

At the current standings, the English Premiere League crown is Manchester United’s to lose as they have been in the top spot of the standings for nearly a quarter of the year and are on course for a third straight crown.
There is still work to be done as they still have matches against Tottenham Hotspur and Arsenal together with their campaign in the Champions League. Also, the string of injuries has certainly put a cloud on their quest for glory. But despite all these, under the sterling helmsmanship of Sir Alex Ferguson, there has been a willingness for the team to win, as he still has a three point lead with a game in hand that translates to a lead that is hard for Liverpool and Chelsea to catch up to.
They have an impressive record at Old Trafford which is 43 points and that is more than half the league title. They have Edwin van der Sar’s string of 14 straight no goal games which is a clear dominance over the league which gains respect for the league and the greatness of the would be champions.
Liverpool to clash with Arsenal for Title Bid
Liverpool will come into Arsenal prepared but with the knowledge that coming out with a victory would be the only way they can keep in step with Manchester United. Aside from the match itself, the current war of words between Liverpool Manager Rafael Benitez and Manchester United’s Sir Alex Ferguson has added another aspect to the run up to the Premier League Championships.
With a win over Arsenal, Liverpool can gain two points above the league leaders, but with two games in hand anything and anyone can still end up atop the standings. If Liverpool loses, the Red Devils has the chance to move up by five points over Liverpool with still a game to go. Rafael Benitez has reiterated to his team that there is no more room for any slip-ups but his chances have grown slimmer without their captain Steven Gerrard who has been hampered with a groin injury making him sit out the last two matches for his team.

Manchester United midfielder Owen Hargreaves and ace defender Gary Neville have been left off the roster for the Old Trafford club’s Champions League match with Aalborg. Hargreaves has been hampered by a knee injury that he has nursed since his transfer from Bayern Munich. He has been placed on the injury list to get more time to treat the knee.
Neville on the other hand seems to have returned to top form as he played against the Bolton Wanderer’s and helped Manchester United eke out a win. He has been on the sidelines for eighteen months after major surgery and rehabilitation of his ankle. He has also been plagued by many other injuries so as a decision by the club to use Wes Brown in his place.
The club is mired in the middle of the pack and the next few matches are crucial to elevate themselves to a position to win the Champion’s League title. They have matches drawn against Spanish side Villareal and Russian team Dimitar Berbatov. Ferguson may have to employ other options as he is still determining his striking duo between Carlos Tevez, Wayne Rooney and Cristiano Ronaldo.
