Reports out of Portugal have indicated that Real Madrid have set a presentation date for Portuguese winger and Manchester United’s sensation Cristiano Ronaldo to the soccer world. It’s been quite an eventful summer and the soap opera transfer saga surrounding the winger is set to come to an end some time this week.

With Ronaldo expected to confront Sir Alex Ferguson and Manchester United this week on matters regarding his future, the questions on everybody’s lips remains to be; Can Sir Alex convince his superstar to stay at Old Trafford?, Can Ronaldo persuade his manager to allow him to go?. Needless to say Real Madrid who now seems certain of the Portuguese’s signature have set August 15 as the date they will present the wing wizard.

It is believed that Real Madrid have table a €75 million for Ronaldo, however the final bid for the player is expected to be somewhere close to €85 million, most of which will come from the sale of Robinho to Chelsea once the club is assured the signature of Cristiano Ronaldo.

Look out for the most anticipated player presentation in history.

Real Madrid will unveil new signing Rafael Van Der Vaart next week according to reports, this after the club reached an amicable agreement with the player. Van der Vaart will sign for Real for €9m with another €2m going to Hamburg based on appearances and what he achieves with the La Liga champions. Van Der Vaart’s contract with Hamburg was set to expire in 2010, but it is believed he will sign for Los Blancos over the weekend when Real meet the German’s in the Emirates Cup.

Real Madrid’s president Ramon Calderon; whose primary pursuit was Portuguese winger Cristiano Ronaldo seems to have gotten impatient with the Manchester United star and looks to have given up on his relentless pursuit of the midfielder. Much to Ronaldo’s dismay, who earlier this week stated that he would be traveling to England next week to inform Sir Alex Ferguson and Manchester United that he is leaving Old Trafford for the Santiago bernabeu.

What will happen now? Calderon is said to be traveling to England to seal the deal for Dutchman Rafael Van Der Vaart with Hamburg officials. Cristiano Ronaldo may still be playing at Old Trafford after all.

Manchester United’s Sir Alex Ferguson has stated that if Portuguese winger Cristiano Ronaldo leaves the club for Real Madrid; he will retire as manager of Manchester United. This follows a summer roller coaster ride linking the player with a move to the Santiago Bernabeu from Old Trafford.

With Real Madrid confident they will get Ronaldo’s signature; Manchester United have repeatedly stated that the player is staying in spite of the fact that Ronaldo himself has remained quiet about his future at the club. Ferguson has won more trophies than any other manager in English football and stated that “If Ronaldo leaves, I’m going too.”

In Sir Alex Ferguson’s 22 years at Old Trafford he has won 10 Premier Leagues, five FA Cups, two Champions Leagues and an Intercontinental Cup and a barrage of other honors. But could this be a tactic to get Cristiano Ronaldo to stay at Manchester United? It could well be; only time will tell and in football nothing is certain.
