Fulham beat Manchester United 3-0 in English Premier League, and Portsmouth the team in the last place defeated Liverpool 2-0. Arsenal thrashed Hull 3-0, Aston Villa defeated Stoke 1-0 and Tottenham won at Blackburn 2-0. Manchester City defeated Sunderland 4-3 and after a short time also released Mark Hughes as manager. The resources of Manchester United’s may have envied the world of football but Sir Alex Ferguson has confessed a lack of defensive players may cost them a fourth straight title of the English Premier League. United are making a struggle just to cope with a serious injury list which has taken away six senior defenders in the last few weeks. This is a scenario that even for a club with a lot of funds has proved unsound.
Having already a surprise defeat at home to Aston Villa this month, United’s back-line bugged down again on Saturday, as they were beaten 3-0 by Fulham at Craven Cottage. Ferguson, lacking the services of Rio Ferdinand and a lot of other great named players through injury, cited his cluttered treatment room as mitigation for this latest loss. Ferguson said that there is a fragility at the back at the moment and this was a difficult day for the team all round.

The game this weekend for the English Premier League is an interesting match. It will be one of the big four against one who is looking to break in to the spot. It will be Manchester United playing host to Aston Villa, this was reported by BBC Sport. In the league’s positioning this must be the week’s biggest game. Not to mention the Liverpool and Arsenal games also this week. Manchester United was given a morale boost when Manchester City beat Chelsea last week.
This allowed United to come to with in 2 points to Chelsea and come close to the top of the league. Having their share of problems with injuries but is turned out that it did not obstruct their progress. While in their last two outings they played with teams who are almost cellar dwellers they still scored 4 goals in the games that secured them good victories. They will be playing a midweek Champions League game to compete with before going against Villa. Since they have already qualified for the knock out stages, they could rest players and keep them out of injuries.
