Paraguay vs Spain Match Preview

June 30, 2010 by Richard · Leave a Comment

Paraguay vs Spain Match Preview is done here for the upcoming quarter-finals match to be played on the 2nd of July in Cape Town at the Green Point Stadium. Moving forth into the quarter finals both teams are determined to perform at their best for this match. Even though this may not be the biggest of challenges for the La Roja team, they can hardly afford to screw this one up. Paraguay on the on the other hand are going to face some real tough opponent for the first time in this world cup.

With the early and unexpected exit of the Italians from group F, the post of the champions for the group was taken over by Paraguay. They qualified with 5 points and faced the Japanese in the round of 16, where Los Guaraníes just managed to grab a victory over Okada’s men by winning 5-3 in the penalty shoot-outs. Gerardo Martino, Paraguay coach also known as El Tata by his men was relieved by the result and said “ There’s a lot of tension and anxiety and you suffer because the players are putting in so much effort, Let’s hope we can recover quickly and keep making history” . And to make anymore history at this world cup the Paraguay teams needs to play far better than what they have played so far.

Paraguay vs Spain Match Preview is incomplete without the analysis of the Spanish team. The Spaniards moved to the quarter finals by defeating Christiano Ronaldo’s home team-Portugal. The Spanish fans are all praise for their luminary striker David Villa because of his exceptional performance in this world cup and the knack of scoring in every game that he seems to have acquired since the start of the tournament. This is what he commented after the match “We’ve beaten a very tough side and we have a lot of confidence in ourselves and in our potential”.

Though the Spanish star player Torres has failed to click in their last few matches since his return from injury, his performance was considerably better in the last match and Bosque, Spain’s coach showed confidence in him “Fernando Torres did what he had to do and we all felt pretty comfortable with how we played”.

Whoever wins the match will meet the winner of the Germany vs Argentina match in the Semi-finals at Durban.

Argentina vs Germany In 2010 Worldcup Quarter finals

With a dramatic 3 -1 win over Mexico, Argentina will face Germany in the quarter finals. Germany stopped England earlier today with a 4 -1 win to secure their place.

Is this where Rooney will shine or will the Germans stop him too?

It will be a big day for the Germans and the England team as they meet today in their knockout match. Although Britain has really not shone in their games so far, there is nothing that is keeping them back and they could just about overturn the Germans.

In their previous two games, England’s Wayne Rooney was almost like someone not there in the team. Moreover there was a lot of upheaval in the team between the players and the coach. Hopefully all of that should have settled down. Capello made an excellent choice by bringing in James Milner and even Jermaine Defoe who added some pace to the goals.

Germany will play their defense with their players like Philipp Lahm who will meet English defender John Terry will bring some excellent and exciting midfield game. Other defenders in the English team like Frank Lampard, Gareth Barry and Steven Gerrard have the skill and the ability to take on the German defenders like Bastian Schweinsteiger, Thomas Muller. Their front line too is equally strong with Lukas Podolski and Klose. The English team also has their frontline answer in players like Rooney and Defoe.

It seems like a man to man game, however with Joe Cole everything could change, and it could even be a stage that Rooney has been looking for so that he could finally come out with his enigmatic game. Although he hasn’t been lucky enough to score a goal in any of the 3 group matches, he could still turn around his country’s fortune for the better.

The organization masters Germany also have an answer to Wayne Rooney. With Philip Lahm the German army could infact give a tough fight and could very well take over the game!

Mexico Feel Haunted With Messi’s Capabilities

A great match today and it’s worth every money you put on it. Although Mexico is another strong team, their only fear is that an early goal by the Argentine Lionel Messi could spoil their chances the second time for getting into the World Cup. They had met four years ago and even then Mexico was defeated by the irreplaceable Argentina.

Argentina had won in 2006, 2-1 after they entered into extra time, and Mexico had to settle for looking for a place in the quarterfinals against England and Germany. Messi and Rafael Marquez who are mates at the Barcelona club will be playing face to face today. Marquez said, “We know its difficult to get the ball off him, he’s so quick and can change direction or pace at any time.” He also said, “Argentina has the best player in the world.”

Of the three times that Mexico met Argentina, Argentina and most importantly Messi has never lost. Infact they’ve won by some superb margins. And although Messi is still to get off his scoring mark started, we are sure that he will lend his magic to his brilliant team. Diego Maradona has even compared his impact with Messi and said “I came to the team’s aid when they needed me” this was a suggestion that Messi would do the same for his team as well.

The Argentineans have been playing an excellent attacking game and they will continue to do the same against Mexico with whom they will continue their three man attack. If you talk about their defense then Argentina are a bit lacking on that front.

Marquez said, “Defensively, they are not the best, they have a great attack but their weakness is on the flanks. We must plan the game properly to play our best.” Coach Rafael Marquez will be looking to use his 4-3-3 format and will also look to Rafael Marquez’s defense to marshal his team to victory.

Germany vs England: Renewed Rivalry

June 27, 2010 by Richard · Leave a Comment

This is a reunion of England and Germany the old rivals and Latin American hopefuls Mexico and Argentina. They will keep football fans glued to their seats on day two of the Round of 16 in the 2010 World Cup. The European giants have not foreseen their paths crossing at the early stage of the competition, but England’s second place finish in Group C deprived them a simpler route. Neither team has shown their best so far. And both teams worked hard for their advance. Germany managed to successfully integrate young talent from last year’s European U-21 Championship team. Coach Fabio Capello of England has toned down his disciplined approach but will use his veteran players to deliver the goods. Not fearing group stage fallout, the two candidates are free from tension but surely one of Europe’s biggest names will fall by the wayside at the end.

Diego Maradona the Argentina coach took his time to settle down with his new role and succeeded in getting his message thru the squad who was dedicated to his guidance. pull out from his own experiences being a player, he handed the captain’s responsibility to Lionel Messi before the game with Mexico and his tiny genius is increasing at ease with Argentina shirt, but Mexico will rely on their finest ever production of players and will never roll over.

A guaranteed interest will be given by the game between traditional powers even when the teams are not claiming to be at their best. England got one win and two draws throughout the group duties but stay distressed in proving that they can still continue but they will need more fluid motion and efficiency in front of goal if they want to survive further than this weekend. Wayne Rooney will carry the heaviest weight and pressure to improve as it is clearly shown that he is not in optimum form. But he should have noted that team Germany looks vulnerable at the back.

After just four years and four days meeting at the same venue of the 2006 FIFA World Cup, Mexico and Argentina will renew their rivalry for a spot in the last eight. The Argentina’s primary attacking threat will be a youngster this time around, that will be operating in a free role behind two strikers. But he will have to compete with the attention given to Marquez, his friend and Barcelona team mate. While Los Aztecas defensive midfielder will be in meager mode and the result of their personal duel will no doubt have an enormous impact on the final score.
