Clash of the Titans, is what this match is being hailed as and therefore, Argentina v/s Germany Match Preview is very important. Fixed for the 3rd of July in Cape Town at the Green Point Stadium this match between Argentina and Germany will definitely be a reveling juxtaposition of action and anxiety.
Argentina qualified to the knockout stages by winning all their group stage matches and stood at the top of their group. In the round of 16, La Albiceleste defeated Mexico very comfortably with a 3-1 victory to consolidate their place in the quarter finals. Not only is the Argentinean team high on talent, they are being coached by Diego Maradona, considered by many to be the finest player to have walked the planet. Though always involved in one controversy or another, Maradona’s virtues far outweigh his vices, when asked about the match against the Germans he said “We know Germany are a different team to the side we faced in Mexico” “we will try and put together the best team to showcase our talents against Germany”. This will be the biggest challenge that Argentina has faced so far in world cup 2010.
Argentina vs Germany Match Preview is no fun without an analysis of the German campaign so far. The Germans began their ordeal by topping their group and thus moved on to the round of 16 to face Fabio Capello’s side. But much to the delight of the German fans, the Three Lions were unable to stand the Blitzkrieg and were pounded 4-1 at Bloemfonteine. Having scored a total of 9 goals in the 4 matches, the Germans have proved themselves to be one of the strongest sides of the world cup. For the match against Argentina they are highly confident, Bastian Schweinsteiger, the Germany midfielder says “We respect Argentina, but there is no fear from us, we are confident”
Players to watch:
Argentina:
Lionel Messi-the current FIFA world player of the year, Carlos Tevez and Higuain who have been the serial goal scorers for Argentina in this world cup.
Germany:
Miroslav Klose, Lukas Podolski and Schweinsteiger are very essential to the otherwise young and comparatively inexperienced side.
Expected result:
Stats say that Argentina has won more number of times whenever the two sides have clash on the world stage but both sides are equally matched so just wait and watch says this Argentina vs Germany Match Preview.

Argentina arranges another World Cup quarter final against Germany after defeating Mexico 3-1 at Soccer City Stadium in Johannesburg’s. Tevez come out as the hero with a support of goals, while Higuain was also making good as Maradona’s Albiceleste arrange another game versus their 2006 victor. The Mexicans in the end confirm that they are no match for their irrefutable South American rival. But it started very promising for Javier Aguirre’s team with Carlos Salcido hitting the crossbar with a long-range drive after only eight minutes. Another lucky break through went in the way for Argentina in just a minute, when Guardado put in a shot from the box edge that hurled away from the long post even as the net was all set to bulge.
The team of Maradona did not lack attacking power themselves and Lionel Messi started to begin on one of his trademark hard to pin runs before testing a chip over Oscar Perez that the Mexico keeper managed well. Messi’s search for a goal continues at South Africa, but in a short time the Barcelona talisman played an important role as the forward star of Argentina started his tournament scoring.
Tevez thought his chance had gone when Perez was quick enough to block bravely, but Messi was sufficiently fast to return the ball goal side, where the Manchester City striker was waiting for the pass at home. Shattering the tie allowed Argentina to take control of the game and seven minutes more that hold was fortified as Mexico started to self-destruct.
It was unclear what Ricardo Osorio was thinking when he made a square pass to Gonzalo Higuain, but it turned out to be a gift for Real Madrid striker who readily accepted. He dragged the ball around Perez before side-footing into the net scoring his fourth goal of the tournament. Even with about an hour remaining, it was hard to imagine how Mexico could find a way back into the game and Argentina could have lost by half-time if Higuain did not head wide with the goal at his command. Maradona’s men are very talented of scoring any time and in any condition as Tevez demonstrated only six minutes at the start of the second half.
The youngster who is bound for Manchester United made compensation with 19 minutes to go, but brilliantly turning Demichelis on the edge before issuing a spectacular left-foot shot in the roof of the net. It would show a slight comfort for the crestfallen Mexicans, but even as El Tri returns home with shattered dreams, Argentina can start planning revenge versus well-known rivals.
Barcelona Up Against Big Boys of Chelsea

It would be speed against power, with FC Barcelona’s charge lead by Lionel Messi, it’s diminutive playmaker and able forwards Thierry Henry and Samuel Eto’o against the bigger and stronger Chelsea Blues.
The challenge for Barcelona is to keep up its winning form against Bayern Munich in the first leg match in the last round against well-rested players from Guus Hiddink’s camp led by Didier Drogba, Michael Ballack and Michael Essien.
But at match time, Chelsea’s defense was able to hold down the Barcelona offense and keep a nil all draw on the first leg of the Champions League semifinals. And this was the first time that the Spanish club was held scoreless since opening day of the Champions League. The highlights were the key saves that the goalkeepers of both clubs made. Victor Valdes’ key stops on the 38th on a Didier Drogba interception of an errant pass kept the slate clean. As for Barcelona, Petr Cech’s diving save to keep the ball out of the net from a Samuel Eto’o breakaway kept the immaculate shut out safe.

The Spanish defender stated that “I think we have signed quality players that have done a lot in their respective teams, I hope they can do just as well or better for Barça.”
“We have a great squad, but Messi is a very important player for us, one of the best in the world.

He further stated that “But it’s also true that playing in Serie A is a dream for many players, including my son.”And since no one knows what the future might hold, let’s say it’s possible that this desire may be realised sooner or later.” when asked about the player being approached by Inter Milan Messi’s father said “Let’s say there hasn’t been any serious contact. But, I repeat, things might change in the future.”
