Jose Mourinho is coming back to Chelsea in the last 16 of the Champions League and David Beckham also has the chance of a reunion with Manchester United after last season’s beaten finalists were drawn against AC Milan. Jose Mourinho was instrumental in making Chelsea a European superpower. The second round draw of Europe’s premier cup competition was made in Nyon on Friday and Chelsea, who topped their group ahead of Porto, was given the task in taking on Italian champions Inter.
The second part of the tie will see Mourinho return to Stamford Bridge where he is still considered an idol after ending Chelsea’s 50-year wait for a title when leading the Blues to Premier League glory in 2005 and 2006. Beckham, will play for AC Milan on loan from LA Galaxy at the start of the month, could play against United for the first time since he left for Real Madrid in the summer of 2003.

Jose Mourinho said he is not bothered about the prospect of returning to Chelsea after Inter Milan drew his former club in the last 16 of the Champions League. He said Chelsea is just another game. There is not much to say, the Portuguese coach, who led the Blues to the 2005 and 2006 Premier League titles, said on a news conference on Saturday. There are still more than two months to go and they have many matches to play before that. It is always the same story; they are an important and difficult opponent we know.
Two matches that are evenly balanced a game that is expected to go until the end. Nothing special, they are my former team, players, fans and my former stadium. They are all “former”. As a professional, it is just another game no differently than any against Manchester United, Arsenal or another team. Mourinho’s only return to England ever since he left Stamford Bridge came last season, when they were knocked out by Manchester United of the Champions League at the last 16 stage.
Inter Milan At A Crossroads
April 26, 2009 by Richard · Leave a Comment
Jose Mourinho, the mercurial manager had a very successful run with Chelsea and when he moved to Inter Milan, he had inherited a veteran laden team led by Patrick Vieira, he still falls short of expectations.
He is the highest paid manager in the game today but he has been able only able to match the accomplishments of his predecessor Roberto Mancini. There are differences though as his current lead of ten points over their nearest competitor with still six games to go. It has been a relatively easy Italian championship compared to the ones won by the previous manager of the team.
There also were the positives, the teenage stars Davide Santon and Mario Balotelli and the negatives, the transfers of duds like Ricardo Quaresma and Mancini. But they are out of Champion’s League contention with terrible losses to Panathinaikos at home and a draw by Anorthosis of Cyprus. The clock is ticking for Mourinho works his magic as his window would be closing soon.

Vieira is yet to prove himself at Inter as he has been plagued by injury since his arrival at the San Siro from Juventus in 2006. He stated that “It’s an unfortunate time for me but I will never give up.” “I am unhappy but I remain optimistic. I will do all I can to be available for the new season.
“Everything was going well but then the bad luck arrived. My objectives are still to play on and win many things with Inter as well as tackle all this misfortune.” Vieira underwent tests and it has been confirmed that he will be out for atleast two months.
Not the start Jose Mourinho expected, his team looks to be crippled by injuries and the season has not started yet. The ball is at Mourinho’s feet, how will he play it?
