Hull City 2 – 2 West Bromvich

February 1, 2009 by Tulsi · Leave a Comment

brunt_1794363I think it was the game of the day after a wonderful performance from both the new sides in the premier league this season. Hull City managed to take the lead twice but it was West Brom who equalized twice to end with a well deserved draw 2-2. West Brom kept its nerves to equalize twice with a side who has match the performance of top four in the league this season.

It was 1-0 in the first half when Mendy scored just two minutes before the half time. Simpson for West Brom then equalized just minutes after the second half kick off.

Fagan then headed a goal in the 69th minute for the Tigers but then it was Brunt who earned the goal by scoring a penalty just few minutes after Hull took the lead. Koren was brought down by Zayatte in the box and the referee signalled a penalty immediately.

rangers-v-motherwell-nacho-novo2_1216390Nacho Novo, the Rangers striker has insisted to stay at the club. There are reportedly offers form English side Hull City and Spanish side Deportivo. Hull have made a 2 million pound for the striker but Novo seems uninterested as he his committed to the cause of Rangers.

Rangers are second in the Scottish League, two points behind the leaders Celtic. Both of the teams are to avoid any upsets in order to keep the momentum going for the title. Novo has saidthat he likes the atmosphere at Rangers club and he does not care about any transfer rumours. The fact is that he likes Rangers and he will never leave it. He does not want to move away from the club whether its a foreign or a home club. He is happy to play at Rangers and help them win the trophy this season. Rangers might sell the player as they are under some financial crisis but the player is not willing to go anywhere so the club has to sort out the matters with the striker.

bullard_1237098Jimmy Bullard, the Fulham midfielder is set to join Hull City very soon. It is reported that the Tigers made a bid for the Fulahm starlet in a region of f million pounds. The midfielder has agreed the deal with Hull and deal will hopefully be finalized by the end of this weekend.

Bullard was also anxious to join a new club as Fulham was reluctant to offer him a new contract. Hull City who started the 2008 season at their top form is now adding some new reinforcements to their side. They have created much problemsfor the top teams, Liverpool, Manchester United and Chelsea but they gradually lost their momentum by Christmas. Phil Brown the Tigers manager is now adding new players to strengthen the squad in the center. He has a deadly combination in front and he is looking for someone to create chances and Bullard is one man he is trusting in the January transfer window.

Arsenal left it late, but eventually prevailed over a battling Hull City in a Premier League game, Saturday.

The Gunners came into this game requiring 3 points to keep pace with Aston Villa in the race for 4th spot, and got off to a good start, Emmanuel Adebayor scoring from Robin van Persie’s deliverry to make it 1-0.

Hull fought back though in the second half, Daniel Cousin turning in Bernard Mendy’s cross on 64 minutes to level things up. Arsenal kept up the pressure, and just when it looked they would be held to another disappointing draw, van Persie found Samir Nasri with an intelligent pass, and the Frenchman scored with a nice low shot to give his side the lead.

And in the dying moments, van Persie again showed his class to find Nicklas Bendtner, who scored to confirm the result, condemning Hull to yet another defeat, and leaving them perilously close to the relegation zone.

Hull City v. Arsenal

Arsenal travel to Hull City this Saturday, looking to avenge their 2-1 defeat at the hands off the Tigers at the Emirates stadium earlier this season.

Hull started off the season in a promising manner, but their form has trailed off in the recent weeks, and they find themselves only seven points above the relegation zone. They will be boosted however by new arrivals Kevin Kilbane from Wigan, and loan signing Manucho from Manchester United.

Arsenal have plenty of injury problems to contend with, as Fabregas, Rosicky, Walcott and Eduardo are all still unavailable. However, the Gunners are unbeaten in seven League games, and a win here will do them plenty of good, as they chase Aston Villa for the fourth spot.

Arsenal have also been busy in the transfer market, bidding for Russian star Andrei Arshavin and West Ham defender Matthew Upson this week. It remains to be seen if any of these players do join them.
