English Clubs 2 Games In 3 Days
December 25, 2009 by Richard · Leave a Comment
While mainland Europe is at rest on their winter break, English clubs are warming up for their hectic games of the season. Premier League clubs will play two matches in three days starting Saturday before their entrance to next weekends FA Cup. And if that is not much to worry about, clubs like the leader Chelsea are about to give up players to the African Cup of Nations. Chelsea is playing without Nicolas Anelka who is injured at in-form Birmingham on Saturday and will be weak in attack against Fulham on Monday due to the absence of Didier Drogba and Salomon Kalou who will link up with the Ivory Coast national side. That will leave Carlo Ancelotti their coach with strikers Daniel Sturridge and Fabio Borini, neither of them made a point in their first seasons with Chelsea.
There are no players on Ancelotti’s wish-list that is present. Ancelotti said his squad can cope, even with midfielders John Obi Mikel and Michael Essien also leaving for Ghana and Nigeria.

Fulham beat Manchester United 3-0 in English Premier League, and Portsmouth the team in the last place defeated Liverpool 2-0. Arsenal thrashed Hull 3-0, Aston Villa defeated Stoke 1-0 and Tottenham won at Blackburn 2-0. Manchester City defeated Sunderland 4-3 and after a short time also released Mark Hughes as manager. The win made Fulham retain its ninth place on 26 points. Three time defending champion United remains second on 37, just three points behind Chelsea, which will try to increase their lead in a game tomorrow at West Ham.
Portsmouth won for the fourth time in 18 league games this season to move higher off the bottom of the table. Belhadj scored in the first half and Piquionne clinched the victory with eight minutes left. Pompey goalkeeper Asmir Begovic made a lunging one-handed save of a Steven Gerrard shot that was deflected off by two Portsmouth players in the 67th minute.
Fulham for Negredo

It is reported that Fulham has made a 10 million pound bid for spanish striker Alvaro Negredo. Alvaro scored 2 goals for Almeria this week but the club lost to Valencia 3-2. The club doesn’t want to sell the player because they need him. He has scored 10 goals for them in 19 La Liga games and he is in top form.
Real are due 50% of the fee to player. To buy the player Fulham has to pay half the fee to Real Madrid. If they can do that then Almeria cannot stop the player for a move to England. Fulham needs a forward. Today was the last day of transfer window but it seems that they have more time since the deadline has been extended due to bad weather in England.
Fulham is in good form. They lie on 9th spot with 29 points in the league table and to make that better they want Negredo and hopefully they will get him.
Fulham 3 – 1 Portsmouth

Fulham came up with yet another fabulous performance has they managed to frustrate Portsmouth to another loss with 3 goals on Saturday evening.
The visitors were forced to make errors again and again by the cottagers. fulham moved up to ninth spot above Manchester city in the premier league table. one goal from Johnson was not enough to inspire the pompeys to come back when nevland came up with two superb goals as they were 3-0 till 80 minutes. It was then Nugent who gained the visitors some respect with one goal to finish the game 3-1.
Although David James, the Pompey keeper did very with the gloves to kep the cottagers away from goal but it was nevland’s show that made james useless in the end. Nevland gained a well deserved man of the match at the end. Pompeys now moved to the 15th spot in the league table not good enough for them. Also the pompeys were denied a well deserved penalty that could have changed the result of the game.
