Many years ago, the sport was dominated by men but as the game emerged as one of the most famous sport in the world, it slowly provided opportunities for women to participate in the game. Women players have proved that they can be as competitive as men in the field.

European Soccer Championship is one of the biggest events in the sport of soccer. It is commonly called Euro followed by the year of the event for example Euro 2008. This very famous sporting event is organized by the Union of European Football Association, which is the official organization which governs the sport in Europe. This event is participated among different professional teams coming from European nations in which it is witnessed by millions of fans from all over the world.

The UEFA European Championship is held every four years which is traditionally two years after the FIFA World Cup and likewise after. The first historical championship game was in 1960 which was held in France.

The recently held European Soccer Championship was hosted by two nations, Austria and Switzerland which began on June 7, 2008 and the finals on June 29, 2008 which was held at Ernst Happel Stadion located in Vienna. As a hosting country, the two nations automatically qualify for the finals.

Spain was declared as the champion in the tournament when it defeated the team from Germany in the finals with a score of 1-0. Due to Spain’s winning, they are entitled to compete for the much awaited 2009 FIFA Confederation Cup which will be held in South Africa. In addition, Spain’s team will receive the cash prize of €23 million.

The UEFA European Championship believes that these sporting events will create a good relationship with other competing nations and promote sportsmanship and fair play. This is a venue wherein the best teams can show case their talents in the field of sports.

Czech Republic Soccer: The Independent National Soccer Team of Czech Republic

Czech Republic Soccer team representing the independent country Czech Republic has been very active in joining several international tournaments since 1994. During the time that the country is still part of Czechoslovakia, this nation has already been known as one of the best teams in Europe. Czechoslovak Football Association is the countries national team which has competed from 1992 to 1993.

Czechoslovakia was then separated as independent countries in 1993 with Czech and Slovakia as their respective names. Afterwards, each country formed its own soccer team. Since then, the Czech Republic Soccer team continued participating in numerous competitions. The national team has made its debut with a victory against Turkey’s national team on February 23, 1994.

On 2004 during the Euro 96, the Czech Republic’s team was able to reach the semi-finals. The national team of Czech Republic made its first World Cup tournament as an independent nation on 2006 but was not able to take the lead against the United States team. The Czechs was defeated by Italy and Ghana.

During the Euro 2008, they were able to qualify for the finals as Group D and were able to set a total of 9 wins. The Czech’s squad is composed of the best players namely: Jan Koller, Milan Baros and Tomas Rosicky. The squad has made a lot contribution on the success of the team.

The Czech Republic’s team will continue to reign as an independent team and proves that it can foster the sport in the country just like the old days when it was still part of Czechoslovakia.

Madrid considers a €40m bid for Villa

La Liga champions Real Madrid are currently considering a mega bid for Valencia and Spanish striker David Villa, however in order for the club to consider selling the player; the offer must be in the region of €40m. Valencia looked set to keep hold of their of their Euro 2008 winning pair in David Villa and David Silva and made assurances to both players for new contracts.

However, Valencia is said to be experiencing a serious financial crisis and must sell one of their big names in order to ease their financial burden. Valencia’s majority shareholder Juan Soler has stated that “We cannot assure people that we will not have to sell one of our stars.”

Los Merengues’ pursuit of Cristiano Ronaldo is seeing president Ramón Calderón lose supporters and now he is eager to sign a high profile player to win back their support and Villa could be the answer.

Naked Soccer: Mass Nude Event in Euro 2008

Naked soccer takes place at the Euro 2008 soccer stadium; Spencer Tunick a renowned U.S photographer and a contemporary artist had been taking stunning photographs of mass nude photos of different people in different events in many countries. He has been very popular around the world because of his different form of art. As you can see, with the popularity of the soccer sport, even renowned artists get attracted to create a masterpiece out of the soccer stadium.

At the Euro 2008 soccer stadium where the Euro 2008 soccer final will be held, more than 1,800 people stripped naked for the photo shoot. The event was joined by volunteers from different countries who travel to witness the Euro 2008 Championship.

Tunick instructed his models to pose in different sections of the stadium with different poses. He instructed them to wear no glasses and avoid smiling. After carefully arranging all the models, Tunick successfully made several shots of the event and all of it were great.

According to Tunick, the special event, naked soccer, invites everyone to show the relationship of the human form the modern structures and combining the spirit of sports. All the volunteers who take part in the event are given a limited edition copy of the photo.

Well this only shows that soccer is not only a popular sport but a popular subject of renowned artist. It shows the beauty of the game even in a different form. We can never tell what will be the next art which they will use soccer as a subject.

World Soccer: 2008 European Champion

World soccer has been around for decades. It has been played by ordinary people, amateur and professional players. It is a game you can see in many places around the world. Soccer has dominated the sports world with billions of fans all around the world. With its fast growing popularity, different countries have formed several teams to compete with international competitions and every team is aiming to be recognized in the world soccer.

In the recent tournament of the Euro 2008, the team from Spain was able to win the European champions after they beat Germany. The tournament was held in Vienna, Austria. Finally after 44 years of waiting they finally made it. It was Fernando Torres who made the victorious strike which was applauded by their fans.

The Spanish had performed well all through out the tournament. It was a great game enjoyed by the fans. The team from Spain deserve the win with their skilful moves to win the championship. It is about time to bring back the trophy to their motherland.

It was indeed a come back for Spain which previously not made it for many years. It is a hard fought battle of victory which will be celebrated by their countrymen. They have proved that they have still the spirits to win more games in the future.

Soccer will continue to be a major event in the field of sport. It will continue to prosper and will bring out more champions in the spotlight. It will continue to rein as a world game.
