England vs Algeria In 2010 FIFA World Cup: England In A Must Win Situation

June 17, 2010 by Richard · 1 Comment

England must win against Algeria on Friday as they try to bring back their self-confidence in their talent to make an impact at the 2010 FIFA World Cup South Africa. Fabio Capello’s team will go into the Group C game in Cape Town under considerably more pressure than they would want after drawing 1-1 with the USA in Rustenburg on Saturday.

Capello will definitely be without Ledley King, who has a groin strain, but they should be boosted by the return of midfielder Gareth Barry from an ankle injury. The team also has been lifted by star striker Wayne Rooney and Chelsea left-back Ashley Cole’s will be back to training on Tuesday, with the two constrained to gym and pool work after getting knocks in the first game.

Captain Steven Gerrard accepted that England will have to be victorious to both of their remaining matches. He said that it would be nice to begin with three points but we let out a goal in bad time after being in top. He scored only after four minutes at the start of the game with the USA. It was a setback and a shock to give up but for him they played okay. But now the target point should be seven.

England was expected big in its first game which did not materialize so it got a lot of criticisms. Especially with the decision of Capello to use Robert Green in goal, and made a terrible error that gave the Americans the equalizer. His judgment was seriously questioned since he turned to be the coach of the country.

They were also criticized by former legendary Germany coach and player Franz Beckenbauer, who charged them of doing a regression in development, instead of doing scientific and technical training; they reverted to the basic kick-and-run technique. Jamie Carragher a defender, however urged dissatisfied England fans to maintain their support with the coach of England. If you look at the career record of Fabio Capello and what he has done with the England team, and how he was able to qualify the team for this tournament, he has an unblemished record as a manager.

Defender Matthew Upson from West Ham United said the team ignored Beckenbauer’s comments and said, if that is what Franz feels about Fabio’s way of playing then it is his opinion. The players have to play the football style that suits the team best and if that is how we win games, we will have to follow that style.

World Cup 2010: England will play against Algeria on 18/06 20:30 in Cape Town

This will be a thrilling game to watch as specially with the appearance of Beckham. He became visible to the public eye the whole week as he played a big role in helping steer England’s 2010 bid back on the right track to South Africa, before taking part in the draw for next summer’s finals in Cape Town. But with the likes of Aaron Lennon, Theo Walcott, James Milner and Shaun Wright-Phillips all eying for the same position of right midfield berth, the former captain admit that his taking part in the main event is not a guaranteed.

The 34-year-old is returning to play on Series A side AC Milan next month in a bid to prove that he still has the form and fitness at the highest level but he believe that move does not consent to his World Cup spot. He said that he is not afraid being removed for the World Cup. If he does not make the squad he shall continue to support the team. There is no guarantee and he discovered that is true with regards to his career. But if he can take part in it then it is amazing.
All of us know how much he love playing for his country but it is up to the manager who will pick a squad who he thinks will do the best in the competition.

If he will not be part of that he will be upset but it is something he would respect. It is because the manager felt it was the best in terms of his type of system and they are the best players in the team. It still makes him feel bad that he was left out by Steve McClaren after he had already resigned for being the captain but being chosen for next summer is not something I take for granted. Going to Milan is not a guarantee but it gives him a chance to be part of the squad.

Even with a lot of clubs interested around the world for David, he signed for the North American club in January. Using a unique time sharing agreement, David will return to embark on a second loan spell at AC Milan from the Galaxy. David played on loan in 2009 at AC Milan while it was off-season in the MLS to keep in shape. David ended up staying at Milan for five months, starting from January to May 2009. David played 18 times and scored two goals for Milan and wore the number 32 shirt. Watch the World Cup 2010 England vs. Algeria and feel the thrill.
