Spain head to the Finals, after beating lack luster Germany

Spain has advanced to the Finals of the World Cup and this is the first time they have done so. The 74th minute header by Puyol battered the German spirit who I thought lacked any kind of luster in their game. The Germans were outshone completely by La Roja who was much more skillful, attacking and demanding. They definitely outclassed, outplayed, and simply outdid the Germans fair and square!
Sometime into the game the Germans looked lost and quiet did not know what to do. Definitely the game speed was down to less than a notch, and that’s not what the Germans like. They love a fast game, with a lot of roughness. But the Spanish dribble and skillful passes seemed to have gotten the worst of them.
Germany 0-1 Spain Highlights
This will be the first time that Netherlands and Spain both meet at the finals that will be held in the Soccer Stadium. And if you seen the game between Spain and Germany you will very well agree that Joachim Lowe’s men seemed to be missing the class that Thomas Muller brings to his teams side. Probably it was the absence of Muller that led them to downcast their scintillating display of game.
The first half of the game went without any goal being scored, and the second half too started that way. Before Puyol put in that beautiful header we did really think that the game would get into extra time. But Spain was threatening throughout the game and hardly gave the Germans any chance to take the ball to their D.
Although Lowe thought he could change a few things by replacing Jerome Boateng with Jansen and Toni Kroos for Trochowshi it stood to no effect. Clearly the better team won yesterday. And Paul the Octopus who has predicted everything about Germany’s game, was right again yesterday.
Will Klose make it or is it Villa’s Day!

It will be a close match against two of the Worlds best strikers, Klose and Villa when they head on to the semi finals. Spain the European champions will be meeting three time winners Germany and it will be like watching the finals.
In the other game, Netherlands have already scored their place in the finals after they beat Uruguay with a 5 goal stunner. Surely it also stunned the Uruguayan’s who were hoping to move on to the finals.. German coach Joachim Lowe said, “It’s difficult to compare them but both have shown great finishing qualities.”
Fernando Torres the striker who is considered to be Villa’s partner is out of form and will most probably be left out in today’s game. In the German side, Thomas Mueller was suspended. With their respective star players out of the game, the onus of scoring goals for the Germans falls heavily on Klose and on the Spanish side it is Villa.
Quarter-finals Highlights: Argentina 0-4 Germany
Villa has been in perfect form and he has scored around 5 goals already for his team out of the total 6. Infact this 28 year old player is only a goal less from balancing the act with team player Raul Gonzalez who has a record score of 44 goals to his credit. If Villa manages to strike today, it will be a great way to cement his superbness for his country.
Klose on the other had although is a scoring machine for Germany has only scored less than a third of the 13 total goals that the team has scored. Germany managed to get this high goal output because of their 4-0 win against Australia, 4-1 against England and the 4-0 dramatic win against favorites Argentina.
The Germans as a team looks to be the most complete side as compared to the rest, and with these young and fresh faces as compared to the European tournament, they are sure to harbor fresh angst which seems to have worked for them.
Quarter-finals Highlights: Paraguay 0-1 Spain
The Spanish might find it easy against the Germans since they have already defeated them 1-0 in the 2009 European Tournament. However although the Spanish side remains the same, the Germans have a completely different team, and this could keep the Spanish on their feet. It will be a difficult game, and we only hope that the better and the stronger side wins skillfully.
To sum up the second of the semi finals, according to Villa, “There are no favorites. A favorite is the one who ends the game as the winner….. (Germany) is probably the team in the best form at this World Cup, but it’s a game of 90 minutes between two great teams and anything can happen.”
Well said Villa…. Our Thoughts are the same!!!
Ballack Still injured, Fabregas fit but on Bench, Puyol ready to play!..

Spain has a reason to enjoy even more, and we are not talking about just getting to the semi finals, but it seems that luck is on their side. According to the team doctor, stars of the Spanish football team Carles Puyol and Cesc Fabregas are now fit to play in the World Cup Semi Finals against Germany. The game will be held in Durban, South Africa on Wednesday, and it is surely an event to watch. Nothing short of the finals, the two teams will battle it out to reach the Finals and eventually hold the World Cup.
Puyol suffered from blurred vision after he was hit by the ball on his face in the game against Paraguay. After being hit he fell to the ground and was taken off the field. Although Spain won that game 1-0, the team did miss this player.
Oscar Luis Caleda the doctor for the team said, “Both Players will be fit for the semi-finals.” We will now see Puyol with the XI line up of the team, however although Fabregas is said to be fine, he will be on bench. Bad news is that Raul Albiol will not be playing the match because of his leg injury.
This semi final between Spain and Germany will take you back to the clash in Euro 2008 finals where the Spanish team defeated the mighty Germans 1-0 to lift the World Cup.
On the other hand Michael Ballack the captain for the German team will still be under a serious bout of heart ache since he will be watching the game again and not playing with his team. Before the Germans defeated Argentina with a mighty 4-0 game, Ballack said “It is painful for me. I would like to be on the pitch, but that’s football.”
Ballack is said to have a serious knee injury that’s keeping him from playing his game. He however refereed to Germany’s dazzling performance as “scary”. We do know that he means that to be a positive reply.
After the Germans walked right over Diego’s team, and his desire to take home the World Cup, the Germans now clash against Spain. The benched team captain however has no qualms in revealing that his team has the ability to win the game. Ballack’s team made midfielder Bastian Schweinsteiger said, “It’s nice to see that he (Ballack) came here and as the captain it’s a support for us.”
Germany vs Spain Match Preview

A match of such stature deserves a good Preview therefore this Germany vs Spain Match Preview will provide a comprehensive analysis. It’s not every day that teams of such excellence clash and that too on such a Grande stage, but when days like this come it is no surprise that the world stops and watches. This celebrated all European semi final match is to be held on the 7th of July in Durban.
Much to the delight of their fans it must be admitted that the German team has become somewhat of a Juggernaut in this World cup. They have displayed extraordinary performances against teams like England and Argentina thrashing both of them 4-1 and 4-0 respectively. None of the teams in South Africa so far have stood as challenge for Germany and it would come as no surprise to anyone if they won the cup this time, a feat which they have accomplished 3 times before as well. Their attitude is well represented by the words of Bastian Schweinsteiger, German midfielder “This is a very good team. We may well play Spain next.
Obviously we respect them, but we have the potential to go far and we want more.”
Our Germany v/s Spain Match Preview shows that Spain’s performance has been subpar for the last few matches. Though the La Roja team recovered after an insulting loss against the Swiss, they have failed to achieve decisive victories even against the weaker opponents. This belief is shared by their coach Vicente Del Bosque probably the only Spanish who did not have a smile on his face after the Spanish victory against Paraguay on Saturday. He said “We didn’t play well and we never looked comfortable” and added “We are not scared of Germany but I think they are playing better than anyone right now”.
Even though the Spanish team is star studded, when talents such as Fernando Torres underperform consistently, the chances for a victory by the Spanish Armada seem low. Though David Villa has held the Baton for the Spanish in the world cup so far, Bosque needs a few more of his star players to start scoring some goals.
