Chelsea boss Luiz Felipe Scolari has been unable to bring in new faces in the transfer window, and now he faces a player exodus from Stanford Bridge, as after Carlo Cudicini’s move to Tottenham Hotspur, Florent Malouda may leave for Juventus and Bratislav Ivanovic could be on his way to Fiorentina.

It was expected that Juventus would move for Malouda at the end of the season, but some reports suggest that he could well move to Turin on loan till the summer. Malouda has failed to find his feet in the Premier League, and his departure will be of no surprise to anyone.

Ivanovic, on the other hand has received very few oppurtunities in the presence of John Terry, Ricardo Carvalho and Alex since his move to Chelsea. He is set to join Fiorentina, as his agent has met with officials from the Florence based club.

“I have met with [Fiorentina director of sport Pantaleo] Corvino today and we will meet again as soon as possible,” Ivanovic’s agent, Vlado Borozan, told media.

“We are negotiating terms to take Ivanovic to Florence; the lad wants to play for Fiorentina and the club have showed they want the same thing.

Italian goalkeeper Carlo Cudicini has completed a move to from Chelsea Premiership strugglers Tottenham Hotspur on a free transfer. Cudicini has been second choice at the Blues since the arrival of Petr Cech in 2004, and this move was widely expected as his contract approached its end.

Cudicini said that he is looking forward to competing for the number one goalkeeping slot at Spurs with currently injured Brazilian keeper Herurelho Gomes and his back-up Ben Alnwick.

“I met Heurelho Gomes and Ben (Alnwick) so it will be fantastic to work with them and we’ll try to push each other,” Cudicini said today. “I think it will be a fair competition and that is good for the team.”

“At this moment the team is not in the best position but it doesn’t matter – I’m here to bring some experience and try to push this club forward,” he added.

“No-one expected Tottenham to be in this situation. I think the team has the quality and the character to come out of this situation.

“It’s five months until the end of the season and we have to fight in every game to get out of this situation as soon as possible. I hope I bring some points.”

Cudicini also spoke about being very happy to be at Spurs, a club where he shoulg get more first team oppurtunities as compared to Chelsea. “I’m really happy with this choice. This was the time to find a new challenge and push for other success – and for the club as well.”

Chelsea is set to play Juventus in March and Essien is hopeful to be back by second leg if not the first one.

The player is desperate to come back and start for the Blues again. Chelsea need his services desperately as well especially after some setbacks in the premiership. They have lost or drawn again big clubs until now and they face a huge task if they want to win the title.

Michael Essien got a knee ligament injury while playing for Ghana, his country, in September. The player is recovering after his surgery and the fear that he might miss the whole season was indigestable to Chelsea. Well now they can wait to see the player fit to play in Turin in March.

Chelsea’s troubled striker Didier Drogba could be on his way to Manchester City, according to some reports.

It is reported that City are prepared to hand the Ivorian , who currently earns 90,000 pounds per week at Stamford Bridge, a four-and-a-half-year contract and double his wages to 180,000 per week. This offer would be quite attractive to the 30-year-old whose future at Chelsea has become increasingly uncertain over the past few weeks after a few poor performances and his subsequent axing from the team for the last two games.

Also, after his efforts to sign Paraguayan Roque Santa Cruz and Kaka from Blackburn Rovers and Milan respectively failed, and with money to spend, he is likely to make one big money puchase before the end of the transfer window.
