Arshavin to Arsenal, done!

February 2, 2009 by Tulsi · Leave a Comment

32115_newsThere has been rumor that a deal has been finalized between Arshavin and Arsenal, the player wanted a wage around 100,000 pounds and Arsenal was reluctant but things have worked out but the transfer fee and weekly wages being paid to him are undisclosed.

Arshavin arrived to London from Dubai yesterday because he predicted that a deal would work out between the clubs and he might have to undergo medical. He didn’t have to waste much time for the move now and he must also be happy. Arsenal will play against AS Roma in the UEFA Champions League and the player will get a chance to play for them. It is a good news for the club and Arsene Wenger as well who  was almost sick of buying him due to so many problems that he just said he doesn’t want him anymore.

Arsenal will get back on their toes in the premier league after this move.

Wenger doesn’t want Arshavin !

40003_newsWe know Arsene Wenger is a sort of manager who does not care about players when it comes to ego. When he sold Flamini and Hleb he showed that to him respect is more important than players. Now he has denied rumors he is dying to land Arshavin at The Emirates to save them in premier league from a further sinking.

Arsenal drew last night with West Ham. Villa is five points clear off them and they are on the verge of failure to entry in next year’s uefa champions league which is an embarrassment. It would be good to see a new English team enter the European competition.

At this time Arsenal clearly needs Arshavin but Wenger does not if the club is overrating the player. The january window is closing in few days and its good that the deal works out and Arsenal can avoid draws in the league.

Arsenal manager Arsene Wenger remains rigidly supportive of the club’s wage structure, even if it means they could miss out on Russian playmaker Andrei Arshavin.

It is reported that Arsenal have agreed a transfer fee for the player with Zenit St. Petersburg, but negotiations with the player are stalling on wage demands.

“The players who come in here are all on our wage structure or they do not come in,” Wenger said. “It’s as simple as that. Nobody will come in above the highest level we have here.”

Meanwhile, Wenger is confident that injured England international winger Theo Walcott will commit his long term future to the Emirates outfit by signing a contract extension.

“We will sort that out,” Wenger mentioned. “We are in negotiations. He wants to stay and we want him to stay, so we should find an agreement.”

Zenit St. Petersburg have agreed details with Arsenal for the transfer of their Russian playmaker Andrei Arshavin. A transfer fee in the region of 16 million euros has been agreed on by both clubs, and all that is required to complete the move is for contract details to be sorted out.

“Negotiations between Zenit and Arsenal on the transfer of Andrei Arshavin are continuing,” the Russian club said in a statement. “The clubs have reached an agreement in principle on terms that both sides feel reflect the market value of the player. At the moment, the main obstacle in the implementation of the deal are the personal requirements of Andrei Arshavin.

“Arshavin does not intend to reduce the demands of his personal contract, thus hindering the negotiation process and calling into question all the agreements reached between the clubs.”

The problem is that Arshavin is paid 106,000 euros per week, which is significantly more than what Arsenal are prepared to offer, around 80,000 euros per week.

Zenit St. Petersburg have rejected an improved offer from Arsenal for their Russian playmaker Andrei Arshavin.

The Gunners have been chasing Arshavin throughout the January transfer window, but their efforts seem to be in vain. After having bids of £ 10 and 12 million rejected, Arsenal stated that an improved offer of £12 million plus £3 million in add-ons was to be their final offer, aschairman Peter Hill-Wood said: “This is our final offer. We do not intend to continue to raise the sum. If we do not purchase Arshavin, then so be it.”

Zenit are said to be demanding around £ 20 million, although some reports suggest that a compromise may still be reached, as Arshavin is keen to move to a bigger club.

Arsenal manager Arsene Wenger said about the transfer: “I’m more focused with the players I have rather than the players I can and cannot buy. He [Arshavin] is two percent of my worries. I believe we have enough quality inside here to surprise everybody, even you.

“I’m not frustrated with the proceedings,” he added. “You have to accept that everybody has a price. We don’t talk about it, we let Zenit talk.”

Arsenal to get Arshavin

arshavin1Arsenal will complete the signing of Russian star Andrei Arshavin this week, the player’s agent has reported.

It was expected that he would move to Arsenal’s bitter North London rivals Tottenham Hotspur last summer, but that deal fell through.

Arsenal are reportedly paying around 15 million euros for the Russian playmaker, which both clubs seem happy with, and it seems likely that a deal will go through sooner than expected.

The player’s agent, Dennis Latcher, said: “The deal should go through this week. Andrei wants to go, Arsenal want him and Zenit accept they have to sell. It’s just a matter of sorting out the sums but the indication is it’ll happen soon, perhaps within days.”
