wengerArsene Wenger the manager of Arsenal has stayed calm despite the win on opening day against Everton 6-1 on the Premier League that was played in Goodison Park.  The game was ruled out by all to become a favorite due to the two extremes.  Coach Wenger told reporters after the win last Saturday that it was an interesting game.

Gallas, Denilson and Vermaelen all got scores in the first half and Fabregas adding two in the second and Eduardo got off before Everton’s Saha added a last minute score.  Arsenal has not won a major championship since FA Cup of 2005.  Giving away Adebayor and Toure to Manchester and getting only Vermaelen.  Fabregas dedicated his two goals to his friend Jarque who died of heart failure but was not affected by the moving out of Toure and Adebayor.  The two had problems and didn’t want to stay he said.  It truly is the best they could do.

arsenal1Arsene Wenger still believes that even though he lost quality players he can still deliver with his team.  Despite the loss of Adebayor and Toure his two key players and Senderos who is also leaving soon for Everton.  He is still steadfast that he is still contented with the resources he has in his team.  He only added one player this summer transfer namely Thomas Vermaelen from Dutch Ajax.

Considering this, experts and fans alike are wondering about the personnel policy of Wenger.  And asked about additional players, he answered, not yet.  They are now hard at work but there is no body now before the start of the season.  People’s opinion is important but we must trust what we see in training and in games.  Overall we are having a good preparation and quality in every game is what we show.  Everybody is optimistic of the coming season ready to play and I am confident about this team, said Wenger.  Another important player missing from the team is Vermaelen who has suffered a groin problem.  But he is expected to be back for the Premier League.

“Manchester Is Gambling” Says Wenger

August 9, 2009 by Richard · Leave a Comment

arsene-wengerArsène Wenger said, Manchester is taking a big financial and technical gamble by getting a lot of players at once for their club.  He also thinks that the squad who spends over the limit is guilty of financial doping.  The Frenchman criticised the policy transfer of clubs like real Madrid, Chelsea and Manchester who are over paying players that they normally could not afford.  Even with the current financial crisis world wide, Real Madrid spends almost to £200 million on new players and still wants more.  Chelsea has been quiet lately but previously also spent extravagantly.  This team has one of the leagues highest paying salaries.

Wenger is not one who risks financial stability of the club to achieve short-term growth. As he exclaimed, they will live by their resources, they make money because they worked hard and make good judgements.  He also believes that success can be achieved in spite of the fact that other teams are more financially able.  With a lot of great players, sometimes it works fast but if the balance is not found right away in the first few games, it will be very hard.

After a roller coaster ride over the tentative future of striker Emmanuel Adebayor, Arsene Wenger has moved to publicly back his front man by claiming the Togolese sensation is ‘100% committed’ to the Gunners’ cause and admitted that Adebayor will indeed be staying at the Emirates.

The Frenchman stated that the striker looked sharp in training and firmly believes that his 30-goal hero is committed to his red and white army. He stated that “Emmanuel is 100 per cent committed. He looks sharp in training… Will he stay? Of course. I am not worried.” On the matter of the recent signing of Werder Bremen player Amaury Bischoff, Wenger lamented that “He is young and promising but it is a gamble because he has been out injured. He has had two bouts of surgery.”

So with the new season set to kick off on August 16, Arsenal are set to retake their place at the top of Europe’s elite.

Wenger confident Adebayor will stay

Wenger confident Adebayor will stayArsenal manager Arsene Wenger has revealed that he expects Togolese international striker Emmanuel Adebayor to remain with the club amidst continued speculation over his future at the Emirates.

The striker scored 24 Premier League goals last season for the Gunners and has been linked all summer to transfers to Barcelona and AC Milan but Arsenal has maintained that the striker is not for sale and this was echoed by the Frenchman when he stated vehemently that “Adebayor is under contract.” “We expect him to turn up on Monday and practice with us.”

“And of course, I expect him to stay.” A young Gunners team edge past lower league Barnet with a narrow 2-1 pre-season friendly victory and concerns arised as to whether Adebayor will be at the Emirates next season. The Gunners have only managed two signings this summer; Samir Nasri’s arrival from Marseille and the capture of 17-year-old Welsh playmaker Aaron Ramsey from Cardiff City for a fee of around £5 million.

Wenger stated that more signings are expected before the transfer window closes at the end of August.

Is Adebayor replaceable?

July 14, 2008 by Kerron · Leave a Comment

Arsenal has been one of the most consistent teams in the Premiership for the last fews seasons and one of the reasons they have been so dominant is their potency up front. A potency they found in Ian Wright, Marc Overmars, Nicholas Anelka and Thierry Henry.

The departure of the Frenchman Henry was greeted with mixed emotions and though many thought he was irreplaceable, Arsene Wenger being the artist he is found a replacement in the 6 ft 3 in tall Togolese striker who had his finest season in the Premiership thus far when he scored 26 League goals for the Gunners.

But after just one fairly good season the striker has decided to move on, being linked with numerous transfers to AC Milan and Barcelona. Truth be told Adebayor provided a different option up front for the Gunners and no I’m not alluding to his ability to score 1 in every 15 chances; his ability in the air gave Arsenal a dangerous look when they attacked from the planks.

Wenger is undoubtedly one of the Premierships best managers and even though it seems hard to replace Adebayor, Wenger will find a replacement if he does leave the Emirates.
