Famous Soccer Players

November 11, 2009 by Richard · 2 Comments

If David Beckham is the only known football player as far as your fame-meter is concerned, you’ve got a long way to go . There are many famous soccer players known internationally not because of numerous products they endorsed or popular celebrities they married like Posh Spice. Pele, who is Edson Arantes do Nascimento in real life, is regarded as the greatest footballer in Brazil (native country). At 17, he already won his first World Cup and FIFA declared him as their football ambassador of the world, among his many other achievements. In Bulgaria, they also have Hristo Stoichkov as the most successful soccer player of all time. He was recognized internationally after four consecutive winnings at the Spanish Primera Division.

Other famous soccer players grew up in poverty just like Ronaldo Luis Nazario de Lima (Brazil). Some started it as a hobby or mere passion: Luis Figo (Portugal), Pavel Nedved (Czech Republic), Raul Gonzalez Blanco (Spain), Zinedine Zidane (France), Diego Maradona (Argentina), and Trifon Ivanov (Bulgaria).

jerseyFor the rugby games, teams will have their respective World Cup Rugby 2009 jerseys. These jerseys will have new touches in style and design. Australia, for example, will sport a new gold jersey for the 2011 Rugby World Cup.

Do you know that it used to be just potato-sacks used for their jerseys before? As clothing technology evolved, we have seen tight, sexy-fit synthetic and also high-tech jerseys worn by athletes. There came a time when an IonX jersey became popular. It has benefits in an athlete’s blood and oxygen flow. With the kind of technology we have, there’s no telling as to the kind of jerseys we will see in the coming years and even in World Cup Rugby 2009 jerseys.

Nine Consecutive Wins for Chelsea

guus-hiddinkThe win for Chelsea against Burnley game them the league’s nine consecutive wins for the team after the end of the last season and a five game winning sequence under coach Guus Hiddink.  Concentration is the main importance, maintaining quick movement of the ball for 90 minutes.  He’s happy because the team is on the right track, Ancelotti said.  He is also happy that there will be no movement of players anymore and he does not want to change players.

Burnley already won against Manchester United this season but was defeated by Chelsea’s midfield of Lampard, Ballack, Essien and Deco.  Seconds before halftime, a breakthrough happened when Anelka scored from close range due to Didier Drogba pulling the ball back to him.  Chelsea scored after the break.  This is Chelsea’s best start to a season’s league 2005-06 after winning their first nine games and went on to win the title under the leadership of Jose Mourinho.

Maldini Looking Forward to Team with Beckham

February 15, 2009 by Richard · Leave a Comment

As the negotiations for the services of Beckham continue, AC Milan captain Paolo Maldini has expressed his thoughts on the whole matter. He said that playing with the English midfielder has been a “happy marriage” and looks forward to have Becks play alongside him in Serie A competition.

Maldini hopes that the contractual discussions would be resolved soon enough and he echoes his Milanese boss’s sentiments, even urging the club to make an offer to permanently retain the services of Beckham. Initially, Beckham was on loan to the San Siro club for two months and since then an offer has been made by the Italian side to the tune of £6 million which was rejected by the owner of MLS club LA Galaxy, who Beckham signed with for five years.  The star midfielder is on his second year of the hundred million dollar plus deal, but has largely been a disappointment as the club has had losing seasons with him onboard.

Beckham playing the midfield with Maldini has proven productive for AC Milan. With this in mind, another offer is in the works to make this marriage a permanent one, at least for the next few years.

Arsenal 0 – 0 West Ham United

bendtnerparker_1856799Arsenal managed one point on Saturday evening as they settled for a goalless draw against West Ham United. It was a good show from both the teams but West Ham’s defense was difficult to be pierced by the gunners. In the second half they did manage to find some good passes but they failed to convert.

Nicklas Bendtner replaced Van Persie in the starting XI after much regrets from the striker for not getting much first team football. Samir Nasir who is in top form for the gunners this season also failed to creat enough game for the gunners. He lacked place in his game today.

The gunners kept almost 60% possession throughout the game but they didn’t manage to get off the mark. Now the question is whether gunners will be able to qualify for the UEFA Champions League next while they are trailing to Aston Villa. They would be happy with one thing today that Villa too settled for a draw today.
