The soccer players choice of their wives and girlfriends has become one of the many topics in gossip magazines, blogs and celebrity news over time. There is even an acronym called WAGs (in England), referring to the Wives and Girlfriends of famous football players. Somehow, more people in the entertainment industry just wanted to have a glimpse on these celebrities’ personal lives.
Leading the list is of course the ex-Spice Girls member Victoria who married David Beckham and whose exposures does not need further introduction. Other famous couples include: Ashley Cole who married Cheryl of the band Girls Aloud, Sylvie, wife of Rafael van der Vaart (Denmark), retired supermodel Linda Evangelista who married Fabien Barthez (France), Alena Seredova, girlfriend of Gianluigi Buffon (Italy), Raica Oliveira, girlfriend of Ronaldo (Brazil), Wayne Rooney’s girlfriend Coleen McLoughlin, and Pamela Diaz, girlfriend of Manuel Neira (Chile). So what makes the lives of these soccer players with their wives and girlfriends any different from ours?
