This group is tagged as the “group of death”. Germany is the favorite, but don’t forget that Australia almost made an upset to Italy who eventually became the champions at Germany 2006. Ghana also got to the final 16 in 2006 and Serbia made a strong record in 2009, this team could be 2010 South Africa‘s dark horse.
Serbia will be emerging in the World Cup for the first time as an independent nation. But as Yugoslavia, they have a lot of exposure in the World Cup.
They were the first in the qualifying group in front of France and had a good 2009. They won nine, lost two and drew one.
Germany made a good impression in the qualifying round for the South Africa with eight wins and two draws. During their 2009 games they won seven, lost one and had three draws. The team has good players in midfield, defense and attack.
Australia has appeared twice before in the World Cup, last 1974 and 2006. In 2006, a last minute penalty cost them the championship to Italy in round 16.
They were part of the Asian qualifiers for the 2010 World Cup.
