Manchester United makes first official bid for Berbatov

It is reported that Premier League champions Manchester United made ₤20million bid for Tottenham striker Dimitar Berbatov late last night after many weeks of speculations. The Bulgarian international who formerly played for CSKA is believed by United’s boss Sir Alex Ferguson that he will provide a perfect counterpoint to the likes of Wayne Rooney and Carlos Tevez in United’s forward-line.
The striker who has been heavily tipped to leave White Hart Lane this summer after 2 scintillating seasons in the Barclays for the club which saw him netting 46 times. The 27 year old has also attracted the likes of Barcelona and AC Milan but both were driven away by the player’s initial ₤30million price tag.
