Frings encourages Podolski to move to Werder Bremen

June 30, 2008

Podolski who has had a fabulous Euro 2008 tournament with the Germans which culminated with a disappointing 1-0 loss to Spain in the final hopes to improve his status as a player at the club level and hopes to sit down with Bayern Munich’s Jurgen Klinsmann to discuss his future at the club.

The 23 year old Polish born midfielder finished the Euros with 3 goals which included a fantastic double against his birth country in the group stages. Podolski is reported to be unhappy with his status at Bayern Munich and is being encouraged by his German teammate Torsten Frings to join Werder Bremen ahead of next season.

Frings stated that “Of course we have spoken about that matter, but it is really up to Lukas”. Frings feels that a move to Werder Bremen will help to put a smile back on the face of the unsettled player. Frings also feels that since Podolski has been playing at Bayern he has lost his edge.
