english-football1In this coming season, almost half of the Premier League teams are owned by foreign funding.  Should they bother?  Is the generated wealth produced by the English teams being siphoned out of the English shores?  These are common questions with a very simple answer.  NO, since the English Football Clubs are not making profit.

At this time the Premier League is ahead of other football league around the world but its earnings lag behind other major US series like NFL or Major Baseball League.  This is the comment of the sports economist of London City University.  Its growth is fast moving and continues to grow in Asia, China in particular.  Then it may become the world’s biggest sporting event.  The investors are thinking that football globalization will mean wider opportunities to make more money.  In the US, some teams are already sporting franchise and they think, they can get more profit from the League this way.
