World Cup 2010: Italy will play against New Zealand on 20/06 16:00 in Nelspruit

The World Cup 2010 Italy vs. New Zealand with Italy in prospective. Italy the Defending champions will of course be one of the top contenders to be leading at the 2010 FIFA World Cup™ South Africa. They are the only country aside from Brazil to have won the tournament twice in a row. The players of Marcello Lippi will be competing to match the showing of their predecessors during the 1934 and 1938.

In their way to South Africa, the Azzurri emerged the first in Group 8 thanks to their pragmatism and efficiency, even after failing to set the continent alight along the way. They managed to record a total of seven wins and three draws, throwing 18 goals and giving up seven.

This team set the pace since the start of the opening game with a win over Cyprus 2-1. After that game they remained on top. It took them until the last game to seal their way. The previous that claimed the world title in 1982 and 2006 also sealed their way with still a game to spare. The top scorer for Lippi’s team was Alberto Gilardino with four strikes to his belt that included a great hat-trick in about 15 minutes to go and beat Cyprus 3-2 in their last game.

The star players of Italy include Gianluigi Buffon who remains one of the two towers of strength for the Italian defense. His great reflexes to stay clear of Zinedine Zidane during the extension period on the 2006 Finals exemplify just why he is undisputed to claim the gloves.

Evergreen captain Fabio Cannavaro is the other pillar at the back Fabio Cannavaro. He is the player of the year 2006 FIFA who still contribute his great positioning sense and the wide experience of his 130 caps. Gennaro Gattuso is a midfield who contributes tireless tackler that needs no introduction. He is 31-year-old and is still the battler, motor and all-round talent at the center of the Azzurri line-up, the man that does not accept defeat and whose hunger of winning inspires the entire team.

An absolute ruler in the turf of coaching, Marcello Lippi is a 61-year-old expert at altering yield results with not less than five of the 12 goals Italy made at the 2006 FIFA World Cup Germany from being a substitute. The man has won all in his career that is why he is called on his first time as Italy trainer on July 12, 2006, after clinching the global crown. After the Azzurri splash at UEFA EURO 2008, but it did not need a lot of influence to return to the role and he instantly set about rebuilding the defense, remodeling the midfield and test a fresh group of forwards. Watch how they will fare in the World Cup 2010 Italy vs. New Zealand match.

Ghana vs Australia in World Cup 2010

June 18, 2010 by Richard · Leave a Comment

Ghana had a breeze on its way into the qualifiers, moving ahead through the competition without many problems on the way to sealing a second consecutive World Cup 2010 berth. The Black Stars fought through the fire with Gabon and Libya in round two of the African qualifiers. All three teams tied up for top spot in their group with 12 points, but Ghana took the lead by virtue of its goal difference ratio. The final round was easier for Ghana, it beat out Benin, Mali and Sudan to win its group with ease and confirm a World Cup spot with two more games to go. Their key to qualification is a strong defense. The Ghanaians certainly can defend. This is something they proved in the qualifiers when they just let six goals in 11 games.

John Mensah is a defender who is most unheralded in the game today and he helps to make Ghana a defensive force. The result is a 2-0 win over Sudan last 6 September 2009 in Accra that managed to clinch a World Cup spot for Ghana. But it was a vital 2-0 road victory versus Mali on 7 June 2009 in Bamako that put the Black Stars in control of the group they are in and sent them to the path of qualification. Their star players are Sulley Muntari and Michael Essien who get most of the attention, but Eric Addo lends courage to the team as a physical defensive midfielder, who also play centre back position. Their potential problem is the need for more offensive production from its forwards and attacking midfielders. The Black Stars got 20 goals in 12 qualifying games. At the end, they need more score.

Australia was the leading force in the Asian qualifiers; they won nine out of winning nine and losing two out of 14 games, leaving their opponents by the tune of 19-4 margin along the way. The Socceroos opened the gates, making an impressive 3-0 victory over Qatar in its first game of the third round of the qualifiers on its way to first place in a difficult group that is also known as the Group of Death that also included China and Iraq. The final qualifying round proved to be very easy, as the Socceroos did not loose any game, six wins and two draws. Their key to qualification is also defense. Australia gave just one goal in the final qualifying round, thanks mainly to the outstanding form of Mark Schwarzer the goalkeeper and a sturdy back line headed by Lucas Neill an Everton centre back. Their star player is Schwarzer who played the entire eight matches in the final round of the Asian qualifiers that allowed only one goal against Japan 2-1, in Australia’s final game. This World Cup 2010 Ghana vs. Australia is a cliff hanger.

Netherlands vs Japan In World Cup 2010

June 18, 2010 by Richard · Leave a Comment

World Cup 2010 Netherlands vs. Japan. After a lot of goals in 2009, the debate on whether Japan creates goals against organized defenses has emerged again. The Asian Champions for three-times hardly ever appear doing so and the play lacked indecisiveness and importance.

Coach Takeshi Okada is supposed to thank his goalkeeper for putting a stop to what would have been a catastrophic evening that would in actual fact have gotten the Tokyo press pack in a panic.

Shinji Ono, the AFC Player of the Year 2002 spent two years in Germany but was not able to play much football in his first-team with Bochum because of injury. Now he is determined to play once more for Japan, after winning last August 2008, his last cap.

Ono said that he is hopeful for a recall to the Japan team for this year’s FIFA World Cup™ after coming back to the J-League to play for Shimizu S-Pulse.

Kenta Hasegawa the coach of Shimizu said that he has a large number of experiences. Certainly, the teams target is to get the title. They will take the challenge with a fresh spirit of being a beginner. He was able to finished seventh for the season, in the J-League.

Five Key Players of The Netherlands’

Feyenoord’s Giovanni van Bronckhorst. He is the Dutch national team’s captain. He is a definite player for South Africa. His weakness is against right-wingers, but he will keep his on-field leadership and this will take his team to the World Cup. He has been a player of Arsenal, Rangers, and Barcelona.

Hamburger SV, Joris Mathijsen. He is a real central defender so his position in the team is secure. He has received a lot of criticism since his national team debut, but he is one of the pillars. In the Netherlands, the doubters were convinced that he is one of the team’s best central defenders.

Mark van Bommel. He played in Bayern Munich but deferred to play under Basten after the World Cup in 2006, but not he is back with Bert van Marwijk. Since returning to the national team, his performances are stable and he will be in South Africa.

Liverpool’s Dirk Kuyt. He is also an all around player that makes him useful for the team. He plays a lot at Liverpool which is important for the team. His contributions for the team are positive, so he is assured of a spot.

Arsenal’s Robin van Persie. At present he is the best Dutch player. He should recover in time from his injury, so he will definitely be playing. A resourceful forward, he should be part of the first stringers. The people of Netherlands are eager of his return. Don’t forget to watch this exiting World Cup 2010 Netherlands vs. Japan.

Germany vs Serbia: World Cup 2010

Germany vs Serbia for World Cup 2010: Germany will play against Serbia on 18/06 13:30 in Nelson Mandela Bay/Port Elizabeth

Is there any doubt that Germany will qualify for the World Cup 2010? The three-time world champions landed in Group 4 with 24 points. They garnered a remarkable eight win out of ten games and were never in trouble. Key to their qualification was two victories over Russia that permitted the Germans to conclude a World Cup berth with a game to spare in the qualifiers. The lone setback the team suffered came on 10 November last year when Robert Enke a goalkeeper who was expected to be on the roster of Germany’s World Cup next year as a backup, committed suicide. He was 32. Their key to qualification is efficiency.

Yes, the Germans efficient, that is the best way to describe how they went out about their games, racking up victories in the qualifiers on their way to clinching a World Cup spot. Their Star player is Michael Ballack and Miroslav Klose who scored a team-high seven goals in the qualifiers it included the game-winner against Russia in Moscow.

Their potential problem is that they could be more creative in midfield. Chelsea star Michael Ballack can carry the bulk of the playmaking duties, but other players need to provide a bit of creative work and remove some pressure off the German captain.

Not like last year, Serbia can no longer pick from a talented pool of Montenegrin players, but it did not slow them down one bit to get in the qualifiers. Serbia made an impressive win in Group 7 with 22 points that beat France they were the 1998 world champions and also finalists in 2006 to get an automatic World Cup berth. With Inter Milan’s Dejan Stankovic pulling the imaginative strings in midfield and Nemanja Vidic Manchester United that will anchor a solid back line. The Serbs made a run through the qualifiers that left France in their wake.

Their key to being qualified is team effort. They notably topped their group in front of France, 2006 World Cup runners-up thanks to the whole team effort, with the defenders also helping out in the offensive contributions and the attacking midfielders helping out the back four.

The result is a comprehensive 5-0 win against Romania last 10 October 2009 in Belgrade and concluded the first place in the group for them that forced France into the European playoffs. Their star player is Midfielder Milan Jovanovic who became the revelation of the qualifiers for Serbia that scored a team-high five goals and using his attacking instincts to assist teammates with scoring chances.

Their potential problems are the forwards, especially Nikola Zigic and Marko Pantelic who do not intimidate the guts of opposing defenders. Serbia’s two strikers have to produce more and play more scientific with their finishing in the front goal. This will be an interesting World Cup 2010 Germany vs. Serbia game to watch.
