In spite of Adams warning the Portsmouth team did not put up the work and play a team as if they are should have played.
A lot has change for Portsmouth the last seven months. Redknapp went to Tottenham after walking out on the team; the team has lost the spirit of the game as it showed today.
By the end of the game, Adam could say nothing except what a poor game.

Both the Spurs and Lazovic were pleased at how the training camp went and it is believed that it would only be a matter of time before the club formally makes an offer for the services of the eighteen year old striker. He is currently signed with Serbian side Borac Cacak and is now being eyed by national mentor Radomir Antic to be caped for the Serbian team.

On the side of both parties is time for improvement and achievement. Lazovic can return to his homeland and play for the teams who seek his expertise. On the other hand, Tottenham can make room for the striker in its roster and await the development of the forward as he plays under their watchful eye. In the end, both player and side would prosper, as the proper timing is essential for the eventual transfer from second tier competition to Premier League matches.

Tottenham Hotspur comfortably beat Stoke City 3-1, thanks to a commanding first half-display.

Spurs welcomed back Jermain Defoe, back after a 12 month spell at Portsmouth, and Carlo Cudicini also made his debut in goal following his transfer from Chelsea.

Spurs were quick out of the blocks, scoring after only 8 minutes through winger Aaron Lennon. The goal seemed to further lift the home team, and spurred on by their vociferous supporters, they scored again on 21 minutes. Luka Modric passed to Roman Pavlyuchenko and he played a fine pass diagonally towards Defoe, who raced forward and beat the keeper inside his near post.

On 25 minutes, the game looked over as a contest as Modric crossed the ball in from the left where Michael Dawson connected to score number three.

Stoke came out fighting in the second half though, and restored some pride when James Beattie pulled one back. However, that proved to be a mere consolation as Spurs held on to get the 3 points.

Tottenham Hotspur have signed full-back Pascal Chimbonda from Sunderland, barely 6 months after he left the club.

This is Spurs’ fourth signing this month, after the likes of Jermain Defoe and Carlo Cudicini joined Harry Redknapp as he attempts to steer them clear of relegation. He is also the fourth right-back that Spurs have signed in the last year, after Alan Hutton, Chris Gunter and Vedran Corluka.

Chimbonda joined Spurs in 2006, but left after 24 months as he joined Roy Keane’s Sunderland. He has one international cap for France, and will be looking to tie-down the right back spot at Spurs on his second stint there.

Both clubs have not released any information about the transfer fee, but it is believed to be in the region of 3 million pounds.

Italian goalkeeper Carlo Cudicini has completed a move to from Chelsea Premiership strugglers Tottenham Hotspur on a free transfer. Cudicini has been second choice at the Blues since the arrival of Petr Cech in 2004, and this move was widely expected as his contract approached its end.

Cudicini said that he is looking forward to competing for the number one goalkeeping slot at Spurs with currently injured Brazilian keeper Herurelho Gomes and his back-up Ben Alnwick.

“I met Heurelho Gomes and Ben (Alnwick) so it will be fantastic to work with them and we’ll try to push each other,” Cudicini said today. “I think it will be a fair competition and that is good for the team.”

“At this moment the team is not in the best position but it doesn’t matter – I’m here to bring some experience and try to push this club forward,” he added.

“No-one expected Tottenham to be in this situation. I think the team has the quality and the character to come out of this situation.

“It’s five months until the end of the season and we have to fight in every game to get out of this situation as soon as possible. I hope I bring some points.”

Cudicini also spoke about being very happy to be at Spurs, a club where he shoulg get more first team oppurtunities as compared to Chelsea. “I’m really happy with this choice. This was the time to find a new challenge and push for other success – and for the club as well.”

It was a tight clash for Tottenham who will also meet the Devils in the Carling Cup Final.

It was a superb goal by Berbatov who rapped up things for his side but it started with a Pavlyuchenko header in the fifth minute of the game putting the Spurs ahead. It was followed by an equalizer from Paul Scholes who struck the goal from a distance. Despite of the fact that United was playing a young side for the match the Spurs failed to win who were paying with a much stronger side. Carrick was apparently brilliant yesterday with his passes. I am sure the Spurs fans couldn’t digest Berbatov’s goal but that is part of the game.

The Spurs are already lagging in the Premiership table and the Carling and FA are two silverwares they are playing for this year but now it has just come down to the Carling Cup for them.

In what was a thrilling Carling Cup second leg, Burnley outplayed Tottenham on the night to win 3-2 after extra time, but still lost 6-4 on aggregate to send Spurs into the final to play Manchester United.

Burnley came in to the match after having lost the first leg 4-1 at White Hart Lane, and knowing that they required a miracle of sorts to oust Harry Redknapp’s team. They seemed to have a clear game plan, and took the lead in the first half through .

In the second half, Burnley came out even more fired up, and scored the second through . Spurs were shaken, and the home side, spurred on by their vibrant supporters, made it 3-0 in the dying moments, scoring.

This levelled up the tie, and sent the game into extra-time. Unfortunately for Burnley, their spirited fightback was to come to an unhappy end as Spurs scored through Roman Pavlyuchenko and Jermain Defoe in quick succession to turn the tide, and send Tottenham to Wembley.

However, Burnley will take heart from this performance, especially as they would have gone on to win the tie if it had remained at 3-0, as the away goals rule would have meant the end for Totttenham.

Spurs manager Harry Redknapp was not at all impressed by his side’s performance: “I didn’t learn anything I didn’t know about the players,” Redknapp said after the game. “One or two of them looked like they had a sulk on because I am bringing players in.

“They should be fighting for their lives to stay at a great club like Spurs.”
