Future World Class Player from Germany
June 16, 2010 by Richard · Leave a Comment
Mesut Oezil Germany’s rising star, was made known by Coach Joachim Low as a world-class player in the near future. He says that the three-time champions have an enormous possibility of winning its fourth FIFA World Cup even if it is not among the favorites. Hardly even heard outside Germany and Turkey before the start of the tournament, the 21-year-old played an important role in steering his team to an impressive 4-0 against Australia last Sunday in Durban.
Germany’s second game for Group D will face Serbia on Friday in Port Elizabeth. A win will almost ensure them a spot for at least the knock-out phase, But for Oezil, the team’s goal is to get its fourth title. This is the dream of Oezil and continued that this is why they are here. His parents are Turkish from the German city Gelsenkirchen. Germany lost Michael Ballack their Captain because of an ankle injury before the start of the tournament, but Oezil’s showing implied that the national team can fill in the gap with the new breed of talent.
Germany forward Miroslav Klose said that they have always wanted an out-and-out Number Ten and they have found one now. Mesut took over the position for himself for Germany. He is absolutely a bonus for the team. Low has used a three-man attack with a midfield playing behind a single striker and Oezil’s capability to sprint at defenses and provide great passes that makes him the stand out in the German team.
Low said that Oezil is a player that perfectly fits with his ideas. His level of play is very high and he can get the ball easily and make a great shot. He can be a playmaker and create passes that could split the opponent’s defenses. But even as Oezil is being named by the media as Germany’s new football hero after just 11 games for the national team, Low gave him a warning to keep his feet on the ground. And to become a world-class player entail much development and consistency over some years and no doubt, has this qualities.
Oezil’s contract will expire on 2011, but while the top clubs of Europe have been alerted to his speedy progress. He said that his focus now is the World Cup, this is the most important.
Even the players from England who could be facing Germany in the second round, have noticed the inventive quality of Oezil in the loss of Australia. Jamie Carragher their defender said that since the first two touches it is evident that he has class especially with his left foot. You could straight away say that this player has talent.

Barcelona Up Against Big Boys of Chelsea

It would be speed against power, with FC Barcelona’s charge lead by Lionel Messi, it’s diminutive playmaker and able forwards Thierry Henry and Samuel Eto’o against the bigger and stronger Chelsea Blues.
The challenge for Barcelona is to keep up its winning form against Bayern Munich in the first leg match in the last round against well-rested players from Guus Hiddink’s camp led by Didier Drogba, Michael Ballack and Michael Essien.
But at match time, Chelsea’s defense was able to hold down the Barcelona offense and keep a nil all draw on the first leg of the Champions League semifinals. And this was the first time that the Spanish club was held scoreless since opening day of the Champions League. The highlights were the key saves that the goalkeepers of both clubs made. Victor Valdes’ key stops on the 38th on a Didier Drogba interception of an errant pass kept the slate clean. As for Barcelona, Petr Cech’s diving save to keep the ball out of the net from a Samuel Eto’o breakaway kept the immaculate shut out safe.
