Argentine football legend and coach for two years, Diego Maradona who captained the 1986 World Cup winning squad suffered minor injuries in an accident some hours before Argentina faced Costa Rica at Estadio Mario Kempes in Buenos Aires on 11 July 2011 which Argentina eventually won 3-0. His partner Veronica Ojeda was also in the car when it hit a bus and suffered an injury in her hip whereas Maradona hurt his knee. Oscar Sico director of the Hospital de Ezeiza told Radio 10 the couple was in “perfect condition”. Meanwhile, an investigation into the cause of the accident is underway.
