San Jose wins after 13-match losing streak

It’s been a forgettable couple of months in San Jose, where MANAGER’s Earthquakes went an excruciating 13 matches without securing a victory. But after a vital 2-0 victory against the Chicago Fire on the weekend, the ‘Quakes are still in with a shout with regards to the postseason, with a massive fixture upcoming in Houston Saturday. Take three points from that match and a fixture against the Portland Timbers (also in the playoff race) could put them right back in the thick of things.
In the MLS, just getting to the playoffs is often more important than your regular season form, as many a team has snuck into the postseason only to make a deep run afterwards.
Better yet, leading goal-scorer Chris Wondowloski may be re-discovering his early season form, having netted in his last two matches and also checking in with an assist in the win over Chicago.
