Everton Still in Striking Distance

From 2-0 down, Everton came back to draw at Goodison Park 2-2.  This means Harry’s Hotspurs is still on the 4th on 27 points.  Everton is seventh on 24 points, three points behind the top four.  The team is still in striking distance of the top four even without Torres for quite some time.  And now that he is back, the team can beat any of the teams on top on the remainder of the season.  They should start with a win against Arsenal next Sunday.  

This is great news for all Reds that want to see a quality player in the team.  He is a player who has an eye for a killer pass and also makes a few scores for himself.   He is the missing link of the jigsaw for the team.  It has been reported in the papers that Liverpool started talks with Javier Mascherano and Pepe Reina for a new and improved contracts. 

Everton Wants to Win the FA Cup

The Everton goalkeeper, Tim Howard, bristles at the thought his team is the underdog for the coming FA final against the mighty Chelsea club. His indignance at the thought that Chelsea would run roughshod over them has another thing coming. This Everton club is the only team that the Blues have been shut outs, with the two previous English Premier League draws ending in a nil all deadlock.

This is one of the feathers on the illustrious cap of the American goalkeeper and has entrenched him as one of the outstanding goalkeepers in the Premiere League. His first try in the European football was marred by a forgettable stint with Manchester United and his Tourette’s syndrome only strengthened his resolve to make it good in the fields of England.  And now playing with Everton, this mild mannered man is on the verge of hoisting his newest trophy and help Everton’s fourteen-year title drought.

Everton Edges Manchester United in FA Cup Shootout

Everton goalkeeper Tim Howard stopped two penalty shots to preserve Everton’s four to two penalty shootout victory over Manchester United. With the win, Everton enters its first FA Cup final appearance in fourteen years.

The teams were nil all at extra time at Wembley last Sunday before Tim Howard blocked the shots of Dimitar Berbatov and Rio Ferdinand to help put Everton into the final against Chelsea. The team played by Sir Alex Ferguson were composed of reserves played above par against the Everton side. The winning penalty shot for Everton was scored by Phil Jagielka and Tim Cahill was the only Everton player missing the back of the net.

Everton would be playing Chelsea for the FA Cup, after the Blues beat the Gunners two goals to one. The finals between Everton and Chelsea would be a fitting end to the run of Guus Hiddink as manager of the Blues, who would return to complete his management responsibilities with the Russian football team for the 2010 World Cup.

Everton Reaches Quarterfinals with Win over Aston Villa

The Goodison Park was packed to the rafters to see the match between Everton and Aston Villa. The frenzy was fever pitch from the opening whistle as the tie between the two to determine who moves forth in the standings.

Everton drew first blood in the 4^th minute as Jack Rodwell created a chance from a failed goal line clearance to slot the ball into the back of the net. In the 8^th minute Villa equalised when Gabriel Agbonlahor was taken down by Tony Hibbert in the box. Referee Martin Atkinson motioned to the spot and the kick was taken by Milner. Everton keeper figured right but was unable to thwart the shot for the tie.

At the 24^th minute, it was Everton’s turn to take the spot as Steve Sidwell’s challenge on Victor Anichebe was ruled as rough play. Arteta calmly steeped to the spot and wrong footed the Aston Villa keeper to push Everton ahead by a goal. The third goal came at the 76^th minute as Cahill connected on an Anichebe cross to seal the victory.

Liverpool 1 – 1 Everton

The Reds failed to take the revenge against Everton as they managed to settle for a draw on Sunday night. After the last week’s draw against Everton the Reds manager Rafael Benitez said that they would come back in the derby but they again failed which will bring serious damage to the confidence of Liverpool.

But a draw was good enough for the Reds as they seemed to lose the match. It was again the Reds starlet and captain Steven Gerrard who scored for them. He did it last week and he did it again. Gerrard is in top form this season and he has saved the Reds day-in day-out. Torres has recently come back from injury and he is struggling to find his form. They Reds managed to earn a reply which is better than a loss. The Reds were playing a good lineup but failed to score in the first half. Lescott managed to score a header which was enough to pile up pressure for Reds but the Reds kept kept his nerves to score yet another against Everton.
