Beckham’s Children Becoming Americans

Soccer star David Beckham and Victoria, former Spice Girl member moved to the United States since 2007 when David signed a 5 years contract to join with the LA Galaxy. It has been almost a year and their three children are growing in the American land.
Despite the fact that they are living in an American way, both David and Victoria would like to maintain the English roots to their children as much as they can. In a short interview with the couple in New York, Victoria admittedly said that their children are adapting the American language as well as the culture. They are becoming more Americans than English.
Well, it is just normal for the Beckham’s kids since they are living and studying in the United States where they can easily adapt how American children live.
The David and Victoria are both happy with the opportunities that America has to offer for their careers.
Beckham is on a Mission

Celebrity couple David Beckham and Victoria joined the ceremony of the ESPY Awards held in Los Angeles last Wednesday.
Justin Timberlake was also present during the show and teased Beckham if he could play football, as we know football in America is a lot different from soccer.
Beckham just smiled and said Justin is just kidding and they are friends. 
Beckham is scheduled to play Saturday with the LA Galaxy against the Red Bulls at Giants Stadium. Though Beckham have many fans in America, he is still aware of the fact that the Americans are still not that enthusiastic with his sport compared to the American football.
During the ESPY party, felt the pressure within him as many celebrities flocked to the Boston Celtics who have attended the party. Beckham understands the fact that Americans love dearly their own American football, baseball and basketball more than soccer.
Beckham is on a mission to sell the sport soccer in the United States and this one is a tough job for him and he admits it and said, “The safest place, the best place, is when I’m on the field.”
Abete Bans Italian Fans from Purchasing Tickets for Away Matches

As the battle heats up for the qualifier matches for the World Cup, untoward incidents happen involving soccer fans. A similar incident happened on Saturday when some Italian fans set on flame a Bulgarian flag during a qualifying match held in Sofia. The Italian fans involved were immediately arrested by police authorities.
Earlier before the match commenced, Italian hooligans have been reported provoking fights just outside the stadium. These hooligans are believed to be from the right wing group.
To control the situation and prevent such incidents, Giancarlo Abete, President of the Italian Football Federation announced the immediate ban of Italian fans from purchasing tickets of any away matches. The ban will remain in effect until there are no direct orders in lifting the ban.
Abete said in an interview, “From today we will stop asking for tickets for our supporters for away matches as long as we don’t have any guarantees or ways of verifying who buys the tickets.”
2010 World Cup: South Africa Struck by Rumors

As preparations are being made by South Africa for the coming 2010 World Cup, there have been rumors circulating in different news reports that the venue for the World Cup event will be moved to other country which was not identified.
According to the reports some of the FIFA officials, Franz Beckenbauer and Horst R. Schmidt have doubts on South Africa’s capability in planning and preparation for hosting the event.
Amidst the many speculations being reported, Sepp Blatter, FIFA President clarified that there are no plans of moving the event. He expressed his confidence that South Africa will be capable of hosting the 2010 World Cup. Sepp Blatter confirmed that there are contingency plans in case any untoward incidents or catastrophe.
However, in spite of the assurance made by FIFA, rumors still continue to spread. South African government officials are hurt by these rumors but they assured that they are doing their best for the event and they will definitely host the 2010 World Cup as planned.
Torres Unhappy with UEFA’s Decision

In an effort to put a stop on racism issues that goes along with the sport soccer, UEFA decided diligently to move the venue of the much awaited Champions League tie breaking away from the Spanish home.
The decision has angered many soccer fans because they have already scheduled their flight as well as arranged hotel accommodation in the area of the event. Liverpool fans are also unhappy since they are hoping to see the game in their home stadium.
Upon hearing the news, Fernando Torres of the Liverpool team also share common sentiments with Liverpool fans. He was very disappointed on the decision of the UEFA because he has been waiting to play again on the side of Atletico.
Torres is not happy that the stadium has to close due to the incident and hopes that UEFA would do something to resolve the issue as early as possible. But if that would be the final decision, he will respect the decision.
Gerry Sutcliffe, British sports minister suggest that UEFA must utilize the €150,000 collected from Atlentico as a fine in order to arrange for the travel and accommodation of Liverpool fans.


Sutcliffe commended UEFA for their strong stand on the issue of racism and it will give a strong signal to the soccer community.
Will Beckham Succeed with his Mission?

Since David Beckham joined the LA Galaxy and stayed in the United States, he is expected to face his role in uplifting the sport soccer in America. But according to Ruud Gullit, former Galaxy coach, Beckham is facing very difficult task or even close to impossible
Gullit explained to Reuters, “David is more than just a football player and I think he does extremely well to give football here a lift.” He further said, “But I doubt if they really want that. I think they are afraid of football because it’s so popular everywhere around the world. I think they will just control it so it doesn’t become more popular than their American sports.”
Coach Gullit reiterated that he is doubtful if they really would like to popularized soccer more than the American football and other sports in America including basketball and baseball.
Gullit was appointed as LA Galaxy head coach and has been the highest profile coach among in the Major League Soccer. But after just a few months, he resigned due to some personal reasons.
He explains that there are many things that differ with the way the rules are doing in America than Europe. He seems to be frustrated with how things are going with the leagues in the United States.
Asked if he is going to coach again, he replied “l think I need some more experience. I have had some bad experiences and you don’t want that any more. You want to build it up slowly, slowly, slowly and not jump in immediately. It’s a question of more time.”

Rooney to be charged for spitting!

English police have revealed that they have questioned Manchester United and English striker Wayne Rooney regarding a report that was lodged alleging that the player spat at a Paparazzi while on he and his wife were leaving a restaurant in London’s West End.
The police report stated that “At 12.10am on Wednesday we received a third party allegation that a photographer had been spat at by an individual outside a restaurant in Hanway Street, W1. “Officers established the incident occurred at approximately 10.20pm on Tuesday evening.
“The alleged suspect, a 22-year-old male, was spoken to by police.
“He was not arrested and did not attend a police station. Inquiries continue.” At 22 years old Rooney ought to have known better; what was he thinking? These superstars must think they are above the law. Deliberately spitting at someone is considered an offence of common assault in law. The Crown Prosecution Service will not decide whether they will press charges against Rooney or not.

Following his reported breaking up with girlfriend, Spanish top model Nereida Gallardo, the eligible bachelor is being pursued not only by Real Madrid but by beautiful women. It is reported that “Paris was all over him. The moment he arrived, she went over to his private table.” “At one point, she pushed her chest together and made a point of trying to snuggle up against him. But Ronaldo clearly wasn’t interested in Paris. He turned his back on her.

Totti to make Azzurri return

Francesco Totti’s physiotherapist has hinted that the playmaker could be making a return to the Italian national team as the Roma midfielder tries to recover from his injury.
Totti has not played for the Azzurri since the 2006 World Cup final win over France at which point he announced his retirement from the national team, but following Lippi’s return as Azzurri coach and Italy’s disappointing exit from the Euros, the midfield player’s physio is not ruling out a return to the national team once the player is fit.
The Physio stated that “He has postponed thinking about that because at the moment he is just trying to get back to fitness.” The 31-year-old snapped his anterior cruciate ligament during a match against Livorno at the end of April.
