Chelsea Rebuffs Manchester City Attempt for Terry
February 17, 2009 by Richard · Leave a Comment
Chelsea, in a bold move during the January transfer window, rebuffed the attempt by Machester City to lure away John Terry from its west London confines. This is another attempt to muster its forces after the club fired manager Luiz Felipe Scolari as the club side said that the English and club team captain was not for sale.
Manchester City is knee deep in its rebuilding as it is backed up by the enormously rich Abu Dhabi United group. Previously, it had tried to pry Brazilian Kaka from AC Milan but again fell short. Terry was quoted as not having been interested to move in the first place and his role now as club captain is vital to the team chemistry and hopefully eventual success.
Chelsea is mired in fourth place in the overall points standing in the Premier League. All is not lost though as it can still contend for the title. It is also in the FA Cup quarterfinals as it won over Watford three goals to one. And aside from that, it is still in the Champions League and is in contention to reach the European club finals. With this, Terry said, he is even more determined to make Chelsea regain its success in European football.

Best of the Weekend in Premier League
February 3, 2009 by Tulsi · Leave a Comment
The premier league weekend ended with a big turn around in the dynamics of the league table. Liverpool has finally won a match and ae back in business. On the other hand Chelsea continue their falling form. Manchester United is still in the groove had hasn’t lost or drawn a match in the last six games. Aston Villa and Arsenal who are competing with each other for the fourth spot or UEFA Champions League entry for next year ended up in goalless draws.
Hull City, Middlesbrough and Newcastle United also drew while upcoming teams of the weekend were Stoke City, Fulham and Bolton who won their matches with a good show. Player of the weekend was Fernando Torres, the spaniard is back in form, and Kevin Davies who captained for Bolton Wanderers. Other outstanding peformance on the front was from Nevland who also managed two goals but can’t help the team win. But the controversy of the week was Lampard’s red card which was surely not a red because he had already touched the ball. The referee was close to the ball buthe still can’t see. The player showed immense nerve at that moment because he left quietly. The other controversy was Newcastle penalty which helped them to a draw.
Keane returns to Spurs
February 2, 2009 by Tulsi · Leave a Comment
Robbie Keane who came to Liverpool on a 20 million pound move has returned to tottenham hotspurs for an undisclosed fee. The fee is predicted to be above what the Reds paid for him. So, Reds have definitely not lost anything by buying him in Summer.
Keane was unsettled at Anfield, especially with Benitez’s rotation policies, the player got few starts and often started from the bench. It is good that the player of Robbie’s character is back to business with his move to spurs.
There is no doubt Robbie was loved by the Reds fans but he just could not click for them. Either it was Rafa’s fault or Robbie’s or it was the fate that decided his move, but finally he is back to his original club. It is true that Robbie wanted to play for Liverpool, his boyhood dream to play for dreams has ended now. May be he was just born to play Spurs.
Scolari faces Chelsea Exodus
January 27, 2009 by Qasim · Leave a Comment

Chelsea boss Luiz Felipe Scolari has been unable to bring in new faces in the transfer window, and now he faces a player exodus from Stanford Bridge, as after Carlo Cudicini’s move to Tottenham Hotspur, Florent Malouda may leave for Juventus and Bratislav Ivanovic could be on his way to Fiorentina.
It was expected that Juventus would move for Malouda at the end of the season, but some reports suggest that he could well move to Turin on loan till the summer. Malouda has failed to find his feet in the Premier League, and his departure will be of no surprise to anyone.
Ivanovic, on the other hand has received very few oppurtunities in the presence of John Terry, Ricardo Carvalho and Alex since his move to Chelsea. He is set to join Fiorentina, as his agent has met with officials from the Florence based club.
“I have met with [Fiorentina director of sport Pantaleo] Corvino today and we will meet again as soon as possible,” Ivanovic’s agent, Vlado Borozan, told media.
“We are negotiating terms to take Ivanovic to Florence; the lad wants to play for Fiorentina and the club have showed they want the same thing.
