Aston Villa grabbed a point in their last fixture against Everton thanks to a late Gabriel Agbonlahor goal. Villa were off the pace in that match and were lucky to leave Goodison Park with a point. Newcastle on the other hand were also lucky to draw against QPR in their last match.
Villa manager Alex McLeish would be hoping for a better performance from his team in this game and would want three points for sure. Aston Villa have been good at home and would like to keep their home form going. Newcastle have had a good start to the season and would like to build on that start with either a win or a draw at Villa Park.
Aston Villa are going to be without Jermaine Jenas and Emile Heskey for this game as both players suffered injuries and are going to be out for the foreseeable future. Newcastle do not have any injury worries at the moment and manager Alan Pardew is set to field the same side that drew against QPR at Loftus Road on Monday.
Both teams are coming of the back of draws and would appreciate a win. Villa being the home side are in pole position to win the game while Newcastle would be happy if they could manage to get a point from this game.

QPR vs. Newcastle United Preview |EPL| Mon, 12 Sep, 2011

QPR had a very awful start to the season losing badly to Bolton in their first fixture but have recovered well since then but defeat in their last fixture against Wigan was a major setback. QPR would like to win against Newcastle to get their confidence going again. Newcastle on the other hand beat Fulham in their last game and would be confident of beating newly promoted QPR easily.
QPR managed to sign Joey Barton from Newcastle and now he is gearing up to face his former employers and is set to make his debut for QPR against Newcastle. Shaun Wright Philips is also a summer acquisition for QPR that can create havoc in a defence. Both of them would definitely love to win over the supporters by putting a marvellous performance.
Newcastle’s Yohan Cabaye has been a very influential signing for them and is surely going to impact the game.
There are no injury concerns in the QPR camp and all the players are rearing to go and same is the case in the Newcastle camp.
Both teams are going to go all out for victory but being the home team QPR would want to win while Newcastle would also want to start winning on the road.

We will be treated to a passionate Wear-Tyne derby as Sunderland will collide with traditional rivals Newcastle United. Both teams were happy with their performances last week as Newcastle drew with Arsenal and Sunderland with Liverpool.
Newcastle United hold the upper hand in the last 13 derby matches with Sunderland only winning one of them. Sunderland’s home record has also been woeful ever since the turn of the year while the Black Cats have also kept only two clean-sheets since the New Year’s Eve.
Newcastle on the other hand have been woeful on their travels and have just won only one of their last nine away games.
Both teams don’t have many injury concerns with Hatem Ben Arfa and Morveaux the only absentees for Newcastle and Gordon, Campbell and O’Shea for Sunderland.
Both teams lack good forwards but have industrious midfielders. The team which shows the hunger and desire to win can walk away with the three points from the Stadium of Lights.

Newcastle vs. Arsenal Preview- Sat,13 Aug,2011
August 12, 2011 by Moiz Siddiqui · Comments Off
Newcastle kick-off their campaign with a contest against Arsenal at their home. Last season’s fixture was an enthralling one as Arsenal gave away a lead of 4 goals to end up drawing the game 4-4.
The transfer window has been frustrating for both the clubs. Arsenal has had to deal with constant speculation of imminent departures of the influential midfielders Fabregas and Nasri-both of whom won’t feature in the match. Arsenal also lost Gael Clichy and has only signed Gervinho even though Arsenal required bringing in a number of defensive reinforcements.
Similar is the case with Newcastle who lost Barton and Nolan and has signed inexperienced but exciting Yohann Cabaye and Morveaux to cover for them. The money got from the departure of star man- Andy Carroll- yet remains in the banks as only Demba Ba was signed from West Ham to cover the loss of Carroll.
The match is going to be interesting as both teams would be missing their star players last season. However, the feistiness that brewed in the last game may well also boil over leaving the spectators with a classic contest.
Jack Wilshere will not be able to feature in the match due to an inflamed ankle while Diaby remains a long-term absentee. Ben Arfa picked up an injury in pre-season too and won’t play for Newcastle.
Arsenal Player to Watch: Robin Van Persie
Newcastle Player to Watch: Chieck Tiote

Newcastle United 2011-12 Preview-A difficult season ahead
August 10, 2011 by Moiz Siddiqui · Comments Off
Newcastle United had a poor season last year and would like to do better this season. Alan Pardew has tried to shape a squad that can get into the top half of the table this season but it still lacks depth and quality in all the major areas.
Star Man: Cheick Tiote
The highly rated defensive midfielder put on a string of good performances for the club last year. He would again be required to shield his defenders in the coming season.
One to Watch: Hatem Ben Arfa
Hatem Ben Arfa is a bright young prospect for the club. He did not have a chance to show his skills on the field last season because of a broken leg in his first appearance for the club. However, this season he would like to show the world what a rising star he is.
Manager: Alan Pardew
Alan Pardew has tried to add a bit of quality to the side and would want his players to show more intent on the pitch. However, he still lacks strikers and even his midfield looks depleted with the departure of Kevin Nolan.
Ins:
Gabriel Obertan (Undisclosed from Manchester United-Winger)
Yohan Cabaye (Undisclosed from Lille-Midfielder)
Demba Ba (Free Transfer from West Ham United-Striker)
Sylvain Marveaux (Free Transfer from Rennes-Midfielder)
OUTs:
Kevin Nolan (Undisclosed to West Ham United)
Wayne Routledge (£ 2,000,000 to Swansea City)
Best Signing:
The signing of Demba Ba is an important one for the club. Newcastle United did not replace the departing Carroll last season and paid heavily for it. Now that they have signed a central striker the squad is looking in much better in shape.
Likely Top Scorer:
Demba Ba is the most likely player to provide the goals for the club in the coming season. The club will want him to spearhead the attack after the departure of last season’s top scorer Kevin Nolan to West Ham United.
Possible Best XI:
Krul, Danny Simpson, Steven Taylor, Coloccini, Enrique, Tiote, Cabaye, Gutierrez, Hatem Ben Arfa, Ameobi, Demba Ba
Predicted Finish: 12th

Last Years Defeat Serves as Inspiration

Sir Alex Ferguson Manchester United boss believes the memory of losing last year’s Champions League final will be a motivation for his players than winning the trophy in 2008. Ferguson said that United are aiming to become only the seventh team to reach three European Cup finals on the trot. This was achieved by Juventus in the mid-1990s. AC Milan who knocked Ferguson out of the Champions League in the 2005 last-16 and 2007 semi-finals, stand in United’s way with the emotional come back of David Beckham to the club he left for Real Madrid in 2003.
The loss to Barcelona in the 2009 final in Rome is still fresh in Ferguson’s mind and he says that the bitter memories of the loss will act as a motivation for his squad to win this year. The win was great in Moscow but losing in Rome became better for the team, Ferguson said. That you realize what a big occasion is if you are not part of the celebration.
