Everton face Liverpool in the Merseyside Derby this Saturday which promises to be a very exciting encounter. Derby matches between these two rivals have always been very feisty and one can expect a lot of hard tackling from the players on either team. Everton come into the derby match on the back of the loss they suffered against Manchester City while Liverpool are fresh from their win against Wolves at Anfield.
The morale boosting win at Wolves was the first for Liverpool in three games and lifted the mood at the club. Liverpool would like follow up their home win with an away win at arch rivals Everton so that they do not fall behind much in the race of the champions League spot. Everton were returning to top form in the Premier League but lost out to a much stronger Man City team last weekend. Everton are generally very strong at home and would like to keep their strong home record intact.
Liverpool captain Steven Gerrard can return to the first team against Everton which would be a very big boost for the Reds considering the influence that the Reds captain has on the team’s performance.
Liverpool have Daniel Agger out for this fixture while Everton manager David Moyes has no injury concerns at the present moment and has a full squad to choose from.
Suarez will again be the key for Liverpool. If the Uruguayan again puts in a similar performance as he did against Wolves then Everton will find it hard to contain him.

Everton vs. Wigan Athletic Preview |EPL| Sat, 17 Sep, 2011

Everton had a very fine game last weekend which they should have won but only managed to draw against Aston Villa. The team looked good without their influential captain Arteta who left for Arsenal in the transfer window. Everton would want to win this game though to banish their memories of the draw last weekend. Wigan went down to Crystal Palace in the Carling Cup and are at an all time low after being thrashed 3-0 by Manchester City in their last League outing. Wigan would like to recover from their back to back defeats and would like to start winning again.
A win at Goodison Park is not going to be easy though for the Latics and they would be content even with a draw just to put an end to their losing streak. Everton would feel that they missed a golden opportunity to grab all three points against Aston Villa and would not want a repeat of the last game in this fixture. They would go all out for a win this Saturday.
Both managers have a fully fit squad to choose from and there are no injury concerns for both squads.
Everton manager David Moyes would like his boys to be ruthless in front of goals and would want Cahill to start scoring while Wigan manager Roberto Martinez would rely on Ben Watson to supply the goals for his side.

Final Score: Everton 2-2 Aston Villa
Goal scorers: Everton (Osman, 19; Baines, 69) Aston Villa (Petrov 63; Agbonlahor, 83)
Bookings:
Everton: Phil Jagielka
Aston Villa: Gabriel Agbonlahor
Man of the Match: Leon Osman
Everton and Aston Villa played out a draw at Goodison Park which turned out to be the most entertaining game of the weekend. Everton deserved to win the match but failed to do so as Villa grabbed a late equaliser through Gabriel Agbonlahor who shined yet again for Villa despite having a quiet game.
Everton were quick out of the blocks and got the lead thanks to a superb goal from Leon Osman in the 19th minute. Everton kept the pressure on the visitors all through the first half but were unable to score despite getting many good opportunities.
Everton were to rue the missed chances as Aston Villa grabbed the equaliser through Stiliyan Petrov who gave no chance to Everton keeper Tim Howard with a curling 30 yard strike that nestled in the top corner. Everton responded immediately and got ahead again through a Leyton Baines penalty when Osman was brought down in the box. Everton looked set to win the game from there on but a late strike by Gabriel Agbonlahor denied the Toffees the chance to get all three points.
Everton manager David Moyes was not pleased with his side’s inability to restrict the Villains from securing a draw which enabled Aston Villa to maintain their unbeaten record this season.

Everton would like to build on their win against Blackburn and would like to climb up the table with a home victory against Aston Villa. Villa on the other hand would like to regroup after they were held to frustrating draw by Wolverhampton Wanderers at Villa Park.
Everton have been finding hard to keep players and lost their influential Spanish midfielder Mikael Arteta on transfer deadline day to Arsenal. They have managed to get new players though in Rodston Drenthe and Denis Stracqualursi who will both want to impress their new manager. Villa got Jenas and Hutton on deadline day and they might also play a part in the game at some point in time.
Everton manager David Moyes has been struggling with selection woes and he now has to deal with injuries too. Both Victor Anichebe and Leyton Baines got injured during international duty and are doubtful to start against Villa. Aston villa on the other hand have their injury concerns of their own with Darren Bent a not a 100% fit to face Everton. The England striker is “touch and go” to face Everton but it is hoped that he will be available for the fixture.
Everton want a win so that they can prove that there is still life left after Arteta while Aston Villa would like to out the frustrating draw behind them and return to winning ways.

Everton vs. QPR Preview |EPL| Sat, 20 Aug, 2011
August 19, 2011 by Moiz Siddiqui · Comments Off
Everton will start their PL campaign this weekend after their opening day fixture against Tottenham Hotspurs was postponed due to the London riots. QPR will be looking to gain their first points of the season after being demolished by Owen Coyle’s Bolton at Loftus Road last Saturday.
Everton have added nothing to their squad this season as David Moyes continues to manage the club which has got no funds to bring in new players. QPR on the other hand were taken over by Malaysian businessman Fernandez and Neil Warnock would be looking to add to his championship winning squad before the window closes.
Everton are notably slow starters and last won their opening fixture against Wigan in 2007. In recent times, Everton were blown away in 2009-10 in their opening fixture at Goodison Park by Arsenal who beat them 6-1.
QPR, on the other hand, were dismal against Bolton at Loftus Road last Saturday as they conceded four goals without reply.
Everton don’t have any notable injury concerns apart from Sheamus Coleman while QPR’s injury list was increased after their last fixture as Kieron Dyer suffered a foot injury.
David Moyes would love nothing more than to start the season with a win while Neil Warnock’s men would be looking to turn the tables after a very poor start.

Everton 2011-12 Preview-No additions this Summer!
August 10, 2011 by Moiz Siddiqui · Comments Off
Everton finished 7th last season and would be looking to improve upon its performances last season. However, the club has not signed any new players in the summer which can prove to be costly for the club.
Star Man: Arteta
Mikel Arteta has remained the best player for the club for a long time now. The Spanish midfielder is again going to be the main man who will be pulling the strings in the heart of the Everton midfield.
One to Watch: Jermaine Beckford
Jermaine Beckford was the shining star for the club last year who scored an impressive 10 goals in all competitions. He is certainly a player to look out for in the coming season.
Manager: David Moyes
David Moyes has had a settled squad and has not made any changes for the coming season. He has build up a team having a nice mix of experienced players and young talents which will be hard to beat this season.
OUTs:
James Vaughan (£ 2,500,000 to Norwich City)
Likely Top Scorer:
Saha is most likely to be the top marksmen for Everton this season. If he can remain fit he can surely supply the goals for the club.
Possible Best XI:
Howard, Coleman, Distin, Jagielka, Baines, Fellaini, Arteta, Bilyaletdinov, Osman, Tim Cahill, Saha
Predicted Finish: 7th

Everton Still in Striking Distance
December 7, 2009 by Richard · Comments Off
From 2-0 down, Everton came back to draw at Goodison Park 2-2. This means Harry’s Hotspurs is still on the 4th on 27 points. Everton is seventh on 24 points, three points behind the top four. The team is still in striking distance of the top four even without Torres for quite some time. And now that he is back, the team can beat any of the teams on top on the remainder of the season. They should start with a win against Arsenal next Sunday.
This is great news for all Reds that want to see a quality player in the team. He is a player who has an eye for a killer pass and also makes a few scores for himself. He is the missing link of the jigsaw for the team. It has been reported in the papers that Liverpool started talks with Javier Mascherano and Pepe Reina for a new and improved contracts.
