Ballack inspires Germany to Euro 2008 quarter final berth

Inspirational German captain and midfielder Michael Ballack yesterday fired Germany into the quarter finals of Euro 2008 with a Ferocious free kick that was enough to get by co hosts Austria. The Germans are making their appearance in the knockout stages of the Euros for the first time since Euro ’96 in England which they won.
The Germans will face the inform Portugal in their quarter final game and the Chelsea playmaker will be hoping to make an impression on Chelsea’s new boss Luiz Felipe Scolari who is currently the coach of Portugal.
Ballack was quoted as saying “It will be a difficult game but both teams are capable of going far, they are probably favorites but that may favor our game.” So with great expectations the fans of both countries await their June 19 encounter to determine which team goes on to the semi-finals of Euro 2008.
This should be a true test of Portugal’s depth. Can they pass this test?

Germany has proven time and again that they are a resilient beast in big tournaments. They have the necessary ammunition at their disposal so identifying & improving on their current frailties is the key to maximizing their potential to progress even further, regardless of the opposition
Not really a fan of Ballack, but it must be said. At present he’s playing good for germany.
