Arsenal has no intention of selling Adebayor

July 9, 2008

Arsenal chairman Peter Hill-Wood has stated that Arsenal has no intention of selling 24 year old Togolese striker Emmanuel Adebayor despite reports linking the towering striker to AC Milan and Barcelona. Amidst all the controversy the striker’s future at the Emirates remains in doubt.

The striker has demanded a £120,000 per week salary increase to stay at the club and faces the possibility of signing to Barcelona as AC Milan has given up their bid for the striker. However Arsenal boss Arsene Wenger has refused to grant such an audacious ask by the striker which would see the striker getting a 400 per cent pay rise to keep him at the Emirates.

Hills-Wood stated that “We want him to stay, definitely. Adebayor still has a long time left on his contract and we have absolutely no intention of releasing him from that contract. “You want to keep your best players and Adebayor is one of those.” The striker signed a contract last summer which would see him playing at the Emirates until 2011.
