Berbatov not for sale
June 29, 2008
The acquisition of Tottenham Hotspurs’ Michael Carrick two season ago by the Red Devils for ₤17million is still fresh in the minds of the club members who are determined not to let Manchester United acquire Dimitar Berbatov whom they acquired the same season Carrick departed.
Berbatov who has scored 46 goals in two seasons has become one of the Premier League’s best forwards. Tottenham are said to be asking for over ₤30million for the striker whom they bought from Bayer Leverkusen for under ₤11million.
Reports are that Bulgarian is eager to play Champions League and is willing to leave the Spurs but is unable to for reasons surrounding the acquisition of Michael Carrick two seasons ago along Spurs officials saying that it is not in the clubs best interests to sell the striker.

Messi for Ronaldo
June 29, 2008
Manchester United is being urged by former Manchester United youth team coach Eric Harrison to replace Portugal’s Cristiano Ronaldo with the Argentine and Barcelona genius Lionel Messi.
This comes in wake of the recent reports that has strongly linked the Manchester United winger to the the La Liga champions. Harrison who is responsible for nurturing players like Nicky Butt, Paul Scholes and Ryan Giggs insists that the only player that could replace Ronaldo is Barcelona’s Lionel Messi and further stated that it is quite unlikely that the club will be willing to sell him.
Harrison argues that since Ronaldo’s move is emminent, then Sir Alex Ferguson should start looking for someone to relace him and concentrate on the youth system to rebuild the team like he alsways has when he loses a major player.
Abramovich bids €35m for Robinho
June 29, 2008
The Brazilian International who has been in fantastic form for Real Madrid in the past season which also saw them winning back to back La Liga titles.
The Real Madrid winger is said to be unsettled at the club due to the break down in negotiation on a new contractual agreement with the Bernabeu based club. The player is said to be back at home with his wife and son while still in contact with Europe through his agent Wagner Ribeiro.
It is also speculated that Real Madrid are willing let the Brazilian go for €45m in an attempt to fund their bid for Manchester United’s Cristiano ronaldo. Robinho is being sought after by new Chelsea coach Luiz Felipe Scholari possibly in an attempt to fill the void that may exist by the departure of England international Frank Lampard.
Lampard for reserves rather than Inter
June 29, 2008
Lampard who has been linked with a move to Italian Champions Inter Milan to rejoin former Chelsea coach Jose Mourinho is now facing the decision of his career.
Sources close to the West London based team have divulged that if the player refuses to sign a new contract with the club; he will be left to rot in the reserve team for a year until his contract expires in 2009.
At this point Lampard would be a free agent. Chelsea are fighting to prevent the England international from leaving the club quite possibly because of Mourinho. The Italian champions were siad to have been paying the midfielder €7.3m a year in a four year contract that would see Chelsea getting a transfer fee of €9m.
This deal was not official and now Lampard must make the decision that will affect his future and present, hopefully he chooses wisely.
Adebayor to remain at Arsenal
June 28, 2008
After speculations surrounding his future at the Emirates, the Togo international striker Enmanuel Adebayor has refuted any such allegations by stating that he will remain at Arsenal for the coming season.
This follows rumours suggesting that the Arsenal striker would be on his way to Spain or Italy for the upcoming season, after Barcelona of Spain and AC Milan of Italy were allegedly interested in the striker.
In a press conference the striker stated that “I can see some more years [at Arsenal] because now I have a good contract, I have a good team there and I am playing for one of the biggest teams in the world and I am more than happy to keep on enjoying myself and that is all”.
The striker concluded by saying that he’s staying at Arsenal.
Quaresma for Inter Milan
June 28, 2008
FC Porto and Portuguese winger Ricardo Quaresma has agreed to a deal with Inter Milan for a tidy sum of €35 million. The skillful winger has been selected as the long term replacement for the aging Luis Figo.
Quaresma has repeatedly stated that he wish to pursue a new challenge suggesting that he is willing to leave FC Porto.
After intense negotiations the Portuguese international agreed to the contractual terms laid down by Inter Milan and will travel to Milan early next week to do a medical. Quaresma is the second big signing for Inter Milan following their acquisition of the English international Frank Lampard.
Quaresma will be hoping to put his disappointing Euro 2008 showing at the back of his mind when the new season begins.

June 28, 2008
After being linked with a move to Serie A giants Inter Milan for several weeks now, English midfielder Frank Lampard completed a four year deal with the Italian champions to end his seven season long stay at Stamford Bridge.
It is speculated that the English International will receive an annual salary of 7.3 million Euros. With Lampard gone the London based club is said to be looking for a creative midfielder to replace him and first on the agenda is Barcelona’s Deco, who has been linked to a move to Stamford Bridge.
Ballack could miss Euro 2008 final: Live Online
June 28, 2008
Inspirational Germany captain and Chelsea midfielder Michael Ballack missed Germany’s team training session this evening in Austria’s capital Vienna ahead of the crucial Euro 2008 final against Spain on Sunday.
The German captain is reported to have sustained a calf injury in training on Friday and reportedly did not train that day either. The German captain also missed the 2002 world cup final against Brazil in Korea where the Germans lost the game 2-0.
Ballack has been tipped by many as the player of Euro 2008 and should he miss Sunday’s final; his presence will be missed in midfield as he is the orchestrator of many of Germany’s attacks and also scores vital goals.
His goal in Germany’s decisive group game against cohosts Austria ensured Germany’s progression to the knockout stages of Euro 2008 and his goal against Portugal in the quarter finals assured the elimination of new Chelsea coach Luiz Felipe Scholari’s men.
In a report on the midfield maestro’s development Coach Joachim Low stated that “We have to see how it develops overnight”. Coach Low will be hoping the Chelsea star is deemed fit to play in the final as Germany goes for their record fourth European title.

Euro 2008 Final Prematch Analysis: Germany vs Spain Live Online
June 28, 2008
Euro 2008 final
Date and Time: Sunday, June 29 (20:45 CET)
Venue: Ernst Happel Stadion, Vienna, Austria
Match Official: Roberto Rosetti (Italy)
The Grand Final
With both teams playing at the top of their game and having a full complement of most of the starting players; the final promises to be a football fanatic’s field of dreams. Both teams has had contrasting routes to the final, with the Spanish having a 100% win record and the Germans having lost to Croatia and looked to be out of the tournament, until Michael Ballack gave them a life line.
The stage is set for what promises to be a very interesting game in Vienna. The Germans are hungry and the Spanish are hungrier, so it will quite possibly come down to the team that puts away the opportunities they create.
A Look at the teams
Germany
Torsten Frings remains doubtful with a fractured rib, but following Simon Rolfes’ collision in the match with Turkey and Frings’ promising performance thereafter, it is likely the tried and tested veteran will slot back into midfield with Ballack.
Hitzlsperger will retain his place ahead of Mario Gomez, who failed to impress in the group stages and may make a substitute appearance if at all.
Otherwise the team is expected to remain the same as it has been in the knockout stages, meaning no place for offensive full-back Marcell Jansen or Clemens Fritz on the opposite flank since Bastian Schweinsteiger seized his opportunity.
Possible starting XI: Lehmann; Friedrich, Mertesacker, Metzelder, Lahm; Schweinsteiger, Frings, Ballack, Hitzlsperger, Podolski; Klose.
Spain
Euro 2008 top scorer David Villa will certainly miss the final with his muscle injury, though there is a chance he may play a role from the bench if required.
While Dani Guiza is not the striker best suited to partnering Fernando Torres, Coach Luis Aragones is expected to opt Arsenal‘s young star substitute Cesc Fabregas and line up a five-man midfield, for which he recently expressed a preference.
Possible starting XI: Casillas; Ramos, Puyol, Marchena, Capdevila; Iniesta, Xavi, Senna, Fabregas, Silva; Torres.
PLAYERS TO WATCH
Germany
Michael Ballack
He is Germany’s midfield mastermind, captain and chief big game player. Having been on the losing side in all the major finals he has featured in or suppose to be in, in his career so far, he will certainly be looking to make amends for that tomorrow night. Ballack will have his work cut out, but with two defensive midfielders reinforcing his position in a free role, he could always do damage, of course also proving lethal from the penalty spot, from free-kicks and even in the air.
Bastian Schweinsteiger
Schweinsteiger’s poor season looked to have cost him his status as Germany’s emerging untouchable star. Joachim Low displayed great faith in the bleach-blonde midfielder and it has paid dividends. His set-piece delivery has been magnificent - setting up two goals against Portugal - and his runs into the box have seen him grab one in each of the knockout games so far as well that proved vital for Germany and his role in the final will be very crucial.
Spain
Cesc Fabregas
Spain’s super-sub in Euro 2008 and most the impressive player for that exact reason. Few would expect someone to come off the bench and produce results so consistently over such a short space of time, but the 21-year-old Arsenal midfield prodigy cannot be denied his credit and, following an unfortunate injury to David Villa, he will almost certainly earn the start he deserves tomorrow.
Fernando Torres
Without David Villa in the team, there is more pressure on Torres to find the back of the net. The Liverpool ace has delivered just one goal in four appearances so far despite being the focal point of Spain’s attacking game. While his movement has been good and his running potentially dangerous, the finishing touch has been lacking from El Nino. He must deliver.
PREDICTION
It’s a final and with these two teams playing fabulous football; a close encounter is expected. Spain is expected to have most of the possession in midfield but unless they can penetrate the German defense that showed their mantle against Portugal, it won’t be much of a defining factor. In terms of clinical finishing, the Germans have the edge and will no doubt be more deadly coming forward, but the Spanish have creativity in their attacking game.
The Germans also showed how deadly they are in set plays and as such the Germans are expected to take the final. Physically the Germans are also bigger. Extra time is a possibility and penalties too but the Germans will take it in regulation time.
Germany 3-2 Spain
